We've got a winter storm warning coming for tomorrow night into Wednesday for blizzard conditions and freezing rain, for a possibility of 1-2 feet of snow total (1/3 - 2/3 meter). It sounds like it might be as bad as the blizzard we had when I was 8 years old. THAT was fun...for kids. We got to build tunnels in 6 feet of snow under the evergreen trees!
Anyway, sounds like we're both experiencing extreme weather....Sorry yours is so unpleasant. Hope you don't have a brown out or black out in your area from too much A/C use by people! If you do, put your feet in a bowl of ice water as long as you can stand it as often as you can stand it, and put a cold, damp washcloth on the back of your neck. Those are the best ways to keep cool if you don't have A/C. And, for God's sake, DON'T GO OUTSIDE UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. When the heat is that bad, heat stroke is a danger even for the young and spry. If you have to go somewhere in your car, turn on its A/C while the door is still open, get back out, close the door, and let it run for at least a minute before getting back in your car. (This is only during extreme heat conditions such as what you're experiencing. When it's below 80, it's not necessary if you don't want to spend the gas.)
Tunnels in the snow sounds very fun!!!!! but probably not practical for getting groceries or going to work...
Yeah Ive heard that brownouts/blackouts happen in New York because of air con use!!!! We dont actually get them here, not that I remember. That would be awful in the heat!
I was looking for a bucket of ice water last night definitely! It was still about 36 degrees at about 10pm - i couldnt sleep!
