Well, Allison and I have been talking for months about looking for some furniture, paint samples, etc. in order to bring the not even that old of a house into 2008. The decor and theme of the previous owners wasn't really our taste, and we've just been putting off doing anything about it. And when I say putting off, I mean for about a year now.
We saw that Ashley was having a sale on furniture. Little did I know that suggesting we go check out the sale, we end up going to Ashley Furniture, RoomStore, Rooms To Go, LaZBoy, Bassett, Haverty's, and Freed's (it seems like I'm forgetting some, it was an all day affair). By the time we were done, I decided that I needed to go to the liquor store, and we did. I'm just not sure how many more Saturdays I have left in me that are spent shopping for furniture. We had previously been to the Haverty's Outlet, and the Dump, neither of which had anything we liked.
Well, I'm proud to say that we are the new owners of a dining room table and china cabinet. They will be delivered on Saturday, and hopefully this will jumpstart the 25 or so home renovations that we have been talking about for so long. We figured we could save some money by painting ourselves. We are both perfectionists, so we'll see how that goes. I think we'll start with the back room before we attempt the dining room. The back room is your typical 4 walls, etc, while the dining room has it's obstacles, like crown molding and partly angled and 11' ceilings. The next few months will be interesting - but I'm excited to get going!
With the exception of what 'they' call a buffet, the chandelier, the rug, the noise on the table, and the two ends of the china cabinet, here's our newest purchase:
