This past weekend was AWESOME.
Flew down to San Antonio to see Allison. Stopped by the store on the way home from my flight (which was delayed, of course) to get some stuff to make nachos and cookies. Yeah - we made nachos and cookies - and both were GREAT!
We got up Saturday morning and put some lights out on her bushes and tree, and then put OUR Christmas tree up, along with some lights and decorations...everything looks so festive. Although, and inoperable strand made it into the tree, so at night the tree looks slightly ghetto, kind've lopsided...
Later that evening we went to Frito Lay's Christmas Party. It was really cool to finally meet and be able to put a face to her coworkers. The party was at a hotel downtown by the Riverwalk called the Emily Morgan, a hotel apparently named after a prostitute from a terribly long time ago. Very nice hotel - the hors d'oeuvres were kickass (there was a BLOCK of bleu cheese - yum!). Plus an open bar - and ya really can't beat that. The roast beef was very dry, but the cheesecake all but made up for it... :)
Allison has a few coworkers that smoke, so we took occasional breaks outside - and neither of us felt outta things if I was havin' a nic fit. Haha. We ate dinner, and then a comic (quite the risque comic, I might add) came and did a short routine (with beer in hand). Then some more drinks as we all went back to the first room we were in to do white elephant exchange - which was humorous. Some of the gifts were good, some were really good, and others were just flat out useless...Allison and I had brought a GC to Academy and a small bottle of Ketel One - and funny enough, we ended (thanks to Allison doing some trading here and there) up with the vodka and a set with some crazy marinades in it (tequila, mango, or something?). So yeah - that was fun...
Afterwards we did a little bit more chit chatting with the coworkers and friends/significant others, then took for a short walk down the Riverwalk and an old hotel where apparently Robert E. Lee (?) had stayed...
Like always it seems, the Riverwalk was just a bit noisy, so we stayed long enough to sit outside a Starbucks (but we didn't partake of any coffee) to enjoy the lights they have strung through the trees over the river...
Went back to the hotel to get the car, and drove home. And promptly went to bed! I'm getting so old...
Sunday we got up, Allison made some 'scrambles' that originated as omelettes (haha), and we went back to bed and took naps. Only to wake up just before we needed to get to the airport so I could catch my flight - real good. So I gathered everything up and we hurried out...
Uneventful flight...
Jennifer and Jose met me at the airport, and we went to Six Flags. Enough to work up an appetite, so I ended the night with Cici's, then a shower, than ZZZZ land...
And here I am. (Rock me like a hurricane....jk)
Later.
