I rarely stop by L J much, except that a few old friends have birthdays in the spring, so I thought I pop in to say 'hey'.
Sooooooooooo, I'm checking my friends page, and I see I've been befriended by a couple of youngin's in Seattle -- meaning you and Jadedstripes, to be exact. I see you two are friends, and you both have friends in common.
I'm curious as to where you might know me from, although I suspect it's from my riding the Metro bus all about town. I'm often in a good mood, and friendly enough to talk to strangers. Sometimes I get a good comedy routine going -- which can amuse those folks with a sense of humor.
Some people, however, hold the opinion that anyone who talks to strangers on the bus MUST be a crazy person. They obey the unwritten rule of passive/aggressive Seattle, which says to avoid eye contact with strangers. Plug in one's music headphones and read a book or newspaper -- because cool people only interact with their small circle of friends via a dozen 'lectronic devices and formats. I call these pod people hipster doofuses...
Could you tell me where you know me from, and if anyone in your social circle has said anything good about me, meaning, recommended me to you?
I am a teacher, a counselor, and a social worker. I just don't do any of these things as a full-time job, with the State's blessing. I do them on my own, because I enjoy them, and because it's the right thing to do...
I don't feel like you're being overbearing by commenting on my LJ, as I was the one who befriended you on here. We actually met inadvertently through the Sureshot. I opened the browser, about a year and a half ago, and for some reason it hadn't closed out of your user info. So, I added you. If anyone should be feeling like a lurk, it's probably me. Ha.
This was right about when I had moved to Seattle. jadedstripes was my girlfriend at the time, whom after two weeks of knowing, I actually had decided to move up here with as she was passing though California. I was homeless and basically paying rent to Sureshot, in the form of chai lattes, to get out of the cold.
I'm glad you stopped by to say hi. That's pretty rad that you're a teacher. One day I actually aspire to be one, myself. Which subjects do you instruct?
