A month ago, my old laptop's harddrive had all sorts of problems. It got switched up with another harddrive. When that happened/because of that/after that, my jpgs were corrupted - they were still jpgs, but you couldn't see them at all, not even thumbnails. It sucked but there were some cd backups and most of the stuff was recovered. I also recently realized that the mp3 files were all switched around. For example, you'd try to play Alicia Keys and get a punk rock song. Really weird. All of this was duplicated onto the new laptop. Not cool! All my pictures! All my music!

Luckily, we still have the old harddrive. My mom plugged it in, and I was actually able to view all my old photos! None of the recent changes are in effect, but they're still viewable. Also, the music files still work. To the triumphant lyrics of Dancing Queen (instead of David Gray's Babylon), I gave a huge sigh of relief.

Can you imagine losing all of your songs and pictures? fear alleviated. phew.
