First day of work

So La! it didn't go so bad.

There were several breaks and I got to make small talk with the people sitting around me as we killed time. Filled out HR forms (I'll be insured as of Oct 1!) and learned CareerBuilder's general position in the marketplace and company vision. It felt a little bit like a classroom, but that is the best way to convey this type of information. During lunch I was supposed to meet with my manager, Kyle, but he had an interview to conduct. So, instead, I munched on lunch in my little cubicle (its bareness made me realize just how little it is) and then, since Kyle couldn't find me a computer to start registering myself, he sent me to the kitchen instead. I learned that some of my co-workers have been to and have enjoyed Madison's Halloween; this is a good sign. Overall, I'm still a little bit nervous about doing inside sales - I'm worried about the monotony, sucking, and feeling too isolated in my cube with only a phone line connecting me to the outside world. At least this current week will be fine, I think. Plus, the people I'll be working with seem alright. I've got to give it at least a month or two to decide whether or not it's for me; that'll give me time to get over initial lack of knowledge.

Five minutes to four p.m. and going home, Kyle came back to the training room and handed me a box of flowers with a wink. Keep in mind that there were 25-30 people training in that room with me. I was so embarrassed. After class, a guy behind me insisted on seeing them, which I'll admit was kind of funny. At first I thought that they were from my boss, which would have been really err.. non-traditional, but then I remembered that Mike had been asking about which CB location I would be working at. He also Did hide that paper (ordering form/ad?) from me the other day. Sneaky sneaky. It was sweet and a wonderful attempt to help me get over first day jitters, but I was still absolutely mortified! It was a hard choice deciding whether to thank him or kill him. I chose thanking, but he does know that I was an inch from murder row. And, tomorrow, I'm almost certain that I'll be grilled about this by our training manager - he likes to roast people and add levity to the classroom. Again, so embarrassing.

Side note: Freshly cut peach with Bryer's Vanilla Ice Cream (original) is heavenly.

Other side note: I'm having a lot of problems get together a corporate wardrobe. Nothing I like seems to be on sale and, since I like so few things, I'm spending a lot on very little. I think I'll make it through the week, but this is not good! I've exhausted the stores that I enjoy shopping at!
