::sigh::

When I was a little girl, I loved Bing Crosby. I thought the smiling man with the beautiful voice who would dance around King Arthur's court or sweetly sing "White Christmas" was the nicest guy in the world. I relished the fact that he once sang with David Bowie. I wouldn't consider it Christmas until I had watched one of his movies or specials...

Then I found out he was racist and had a nasty habit of hitting members of his immediate family. Needless to say, I was crushed.

Fortunately, I had a little more warning with Mel Gibson.

Regardless, I will still watch their movies, like "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court," "What Women Want," and "Braveheart." I will then try to imagine that the men are more like the characters they play.

I think I want to be 5 years old again and have no clue that people are anything but nice.. (However, to erase that knowledge I would have to go back to at least 2.)
