35: 2% tears, 5% hope, 93% inferior to Dali

So I received a package today. Inside were the Dali photosets that I'd been waiting for (ones of their current look), some flyers, candy, and Kalen's last release, their photobook + CD set emotional graduation/「2% no Namida to 5% no Kiseki」.

I've wanted that photobook for a long time--since it was released really--because I like Kalen! I bought their best albums and live DVD when they came out, even before there was the Shunna/Dali connection. That being said, having seen the other UNDER CODE photobooks, there was no way I was going to spend almost $30 to buy emotional graduation. So basically I just skipped it and hoped it would appear someday in the three-digit yen range. Obviously that finally happened and so it's sitting here in my lap now.

I'm really happy to finally have it! There is a certain feeling that I'm somehow free of GUILT. As if Kalen's ghost was calling out to me "why isn't my photobook good enough for you...?" But yeah, now I have it and everything is good. Looking through it, honestly, it is probably the best photobook that UNDER CODE put out. They kept the stupid "Hey, uhh, can you invert the color of my hair right there?" effects to a minimum (and I mean that; there's only one inverted-color picture of KISAKI, which is quite a feat if you've seen the other photobooks). Plus the guys look pretty good. I'm generally not a fan of the suit look, especially when it's super simple, but they still look good. Even Shunna's face looks good in many of the pictures, which is kind of difficult. (For the record, Shunna is awesome, but it can't be denied that his face is awkward for photography.)

Dali photosets are nice too~

(Maybe I should have said this a long time ago, but I'm basically willing to rip or scan any item that I receive and make a post about! I don't have a problem sharing with people on my friends list, really.)

Like I said, I received some flyers as well, courtesy of UNDER CODE. There was one from pretty much every current UCP band: Phantasmagoria, chariots, Dali, Arc, Nega, ClearVeil, Megaromania, Zodia, brodiaea, and E'm ~grief~ (why no Lamina I'm not sure). A few of the newest ones are printed on really thick paper, which is a good thing in my book. I always liked that kind of thick, matte paper UCP used to use for their flyers, so I was sad to see them start using the thinner, glossy paper (especially because it implies to me that they're trying to cut corners). Anyway, I'm pleased. DO YOUR BEST UNDER CODE, FULL SPEED! THICK PAPER!

(Almost done, and I haven't been disappointed with a band featured in CANNONBALL vol.4 yet! Pretty good for them~ Let's see if CELLT can change my mind.)

purchase, under code, kalen, dali
