I was on the side of a huge mountain and was heading up with several other people. It was very steep but very smoothly rounded and was covered in long, green grass. There was a type of village built onto the side of the mountain. There were small wooden houses and buildings and because of the slope, there were walkways of wood, like sidewalks, built all around from building to building. There were gray-haired monkeys who lived in the mountains and they seemed to like these walkways and many were sitting or crawling on the light brown wood.
We moved further up past the village and then it was night. I turned away from the others and started to head back down the mountain toward the village. For the first part of my descent, there was no mountain at all. I was in a narrow, white-painted staircase that had large tubes or pipes running along the walls or ceiling. It was a steep staircase and there were some places where it seemed someone had designed it to prevent anyone from getting through. The large pipes extended down near the floor and out to the walls, making a barricade. I remember getting down on the floor, on my stomach at the top of a platform between flights of stairs and crawing under these large pipes. I almost couldn't fit and my progress was very slow, but I managed to squeeze through.
Then I was outside again, on the slope of the mountain and it was covered in a layer of snow. It was so steep and wet that I just allowed myself to slide down it. I slid quickly, over the shallow bumps over the snow and further down, there was no more snow, only the long, slick grasses, which were now covered in a frosty dew of early morning. I saw the village coming up and to my left were two large wooden windmills built onto the side of the mountain. I looked down and could see for miles and miles. The sun had just begun to rise and it sparkled on the dew and hit the butterscotch wood roofs of the buildings and the backs of the sleeping silver monkeys. I wished I wasn't alone there as I looked around me at the shining green and rolling slope under the sleeping, clinging village. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
I watched the village and then turned to head back up the mountain and I passed a strange body of water. It was square in shape and very shallow. It was large with rounded corners and all around the edge was bare, smooth, light grey stone or concrete. The water was clear and there were some limbs of plants and trees hanging out over the edges above the water from beyond the stone. I remember there were many wild animals in this area. I saw a small bird with a very large, thick beak sitting in the branches of a thin, stringy tree. It was a bright red with a white belly and the very top of its head was a deep blue. I continued past the square lake and along the edge I saw an enormous purple parrot, almost as tall as me. It was sitting, facing the water and was a dark purple with an even darker belly, almost black and had small areas of yellow markings throughout its coat of feathers. I thought about touching it, but decided not to and kept heading up the mountain.
I came to the stairs again and thought about how much faster I might travel on my bike. I looked and my big red bike was there. I took it by the handlebars and began to walk up the steep white stairs, guiding it along next to me. I got about halfway up and it was very difficult and I realized that the bike would only help me if I were heading down, not up and I left it to continue on my own.
I came to the place where the pipes obstructed my way and considered squeezing past along the wall this time, rather than crawling beneath on the floor. Just then, two more men came up. I didnt see them get past the pipes but I knew they were from above, with the group I had ascended the mountain. One was thin and old, with grey hair and I thought he was a doctor. The other was taller and had long black hair and had very broad shoulders. He was very muscular. I knew I wasn't very fond of this second man right when I saw him but the doctor knew me. The large man felt the need to compete with me about anything or everything and show that he was better. He began to head down the steep stairs, claiming he could do it faster as he took his shirt off for the effort. I watched him with no intention of racing him down the stairs and I smiled at the doctor. He smiled back.
After a short time everyone was collected below the stairs where there was now a small room or building that was nothing like the wood of the village below. This was a grey cube-shaped room and had many tall machines or mechanisms in it that gave it the appearance of an arcade, although no one was using any of them and they seemed to have no power. There were others there in addition to the first group, but the new people were all from an organization. They were here to help the group of people and they were similar to paramedics and physicians. I wandered around as I didn't need any help and I carried with me a very small, fuzzy, female cheetah cub that I knew was mine. She was the size of a kitten and I cradled her in my arms and knew it had been a while since she had anything to eat. One of the medics was handing out paper cups of water and I asked for one. I held it up to her and she happily drank, then I moved away from the people and knelt down to make a sort of shelf out of my legs and knees and I let the cheetah crawl along my legs where I held the cold water for her to lap up. The water was gone and I knew she needed more. There was a machine near us and it looked like water or some other fluid had come out of it. I tried to find a way to get some from it, but it seemed to be broken or empty.
Then I was walking through an indoor area of the same color and style as the arcade room. There were several other people with me and we were heading to a restaurant to get something to eat. I looked down as I held my cheetah and saw that two small pieces of fish had been dropped on the ground. I picked them up, feeling to make sure there were no bones in them and carried them with me as we walked through the building to our table. The place was very plain. The walls were smooth and white and had no paintings or decorations. The floor was also plain and solid. The tables were rounded and had a cloth, or several pale orange cloths spread out on them and we could see into the doorway of the kitchen from where we sat. I was at a table with three or four people I felt were my friends, although I don't know who they were. There was a large cardboard box in the middle of the table too, but it seemed natural for it to be there. I thought about what I might feed the cub and I was going to give her the bits of fish as I tried to decide what would be the best way to feed her. I wondered about whether the meat should be cooked or not and how much. I thought about breaking off tiny pieces to give to her so she wouldn't choke. I was much more concerned with her dinner than mine.
There was some type of competition going on in the building and it seemed like a usual event. It was some kind of fight between two people, or a tournament and the winner got free food for their table. The people at my table encouraged me to join and told me that I had fought last time we were here. I felt I came here a lot, that I was a regular. I told them I didn't feel like it and didn't want to leave the cub. I looked toward the kitchen and saw the large, broad-shouldered man talking to a blonde woman who worked in the restaurant. She was a round woman and she looked at me for a moment as she flirted with the other man. He seemed to think he was competing with me again by talking her into going home with him, but I remember thinking, "Good, now maybe she will leave me alone."
