The story seems to be focusing on Yuui, though who knows if this is another red herring. :) His determination is admirable, but he's not the only one fighting - look at Fai holding himself up with his bleeding feet on the wall, so he can see his brother from above. Fai's passivity and silent endurance reminds me more of our current Fai, Yuui to me seems too proactive to have turned into the secretive, self-dismaying Fai we know now.
But what if they... switched places before one of them died? Will this be revealed? Will R!Shao and Kuro be utterly confused? Are they following this flashback at all through some Inner Mind Theatre or something? Will we ever know? D:
