MASA'S IN THE COUNTRY! \o/
... His album, I mean. :P Had you there for a moment, what? Never take things people put out on the Internets at face value, kids. xD
But anyway, the point is, hopefully he will arrive to my house tomorrow. :D
For those of you who have already listened to it, for those of you who are still going to, here's what Masa's biggest inspiration and idol had to say about this album.
I'm sure you all have someone whom you always respected and held in high esteem. Think about how it would feel being praised and supported by them for what you do. This is how I'd like you to read this entry.
Meeting Nakagauchi Masataka-kun. "My first guest this year. Nakagauchi Masataka-kun joined me today. The very first time we've met was April 2008. I had a fanclub-only live in the Harajuku Astro Hall which Masataka-kun had come to see then came backstage to greet me after the performance. After this, we did a cross-talk interview through a magazine, I went to see one of Masataka-kun's performances, we also often had dinner together and thus created a good acquaintaceship.
The reason for us to meet - though it's not really proper to say it by myself - was this: Masataka-kun listened to my music in his teenage years and after he himself had entered the industry, he mentioned my name in several interviews. Through my friends this has reached me too, and before I noticed we already had a cross-talk scheduled together. I was really happy about this meeting and I'm thankful to Masataka-kun.
During the many times we went out for meals together, there was a topic that was bound to come up. Namely that that I'd write a song for Masataka-kun, to which he would attach lyrics by himself and sing it. I thought it would be a great and very interesting thing to do. And just like that, there came an offer from Masataka-kun's producer and office staff! Wishes do come true. So what I set out to do, has soon become more than just songwriting, I was pondering: 'Nakagauchi Masataka-kun would look cool singing this certain kind of song on stage', 'I'd like him to sing that certain kind of song'. With these kind of images in my mind, I have put together the tempo, the beat and the melody like pieces of a puzzle. And thus this song was born, Kagayaku Sora no Shita, which you can hear on Nakagauchi Masataka-kun's first album, Cheers.
Surprisingly enough, when I sent the completed demo tape to Masataka-kun, I was expecting a reply of 'Thank you! Will write the lyrics as soon as possible!', but the message that came the next day was: 'I have already finished writing the lyrics!' So fast! Amazing! I would like him to teach me how to write lyrics this fast. (laugh)
As you can see, many things happened along the way, but I am truly glad to have been able to contribute to this album. This memorable first album compromises a wide range of genres, from surprisingly mature pieces to songs that can be sung as one with the fans in a great chorus, and of course what we must always mention in relation to Masataka-kun's personal history, songs that can be danced to. There are many songs on this album that give you the image of Masataka-kun dancing, songs you won't get tired of even after many listens and you can well imagine Masataka-kun singing and dancing to these songs live - it has become this kind of powerful album.
I hope that Masataka-kun, who's active in a wide range of fields that apart from music also include stage acting, will always keep his characteristic dancing close to his heart and continue to dance through many many genres! And in the field of music, let us collaborate again! Give me a call anytime.
I have the feeling we will be meeting often here and there, but let's also go out for a meal some time. I will steal you away to that usual yakitori shop, and no objections! (laugh)
Thank you very much for being my guest this week."
