Hi y'all, I am so sorry I haven't had a chance to post about the amazing Run of the Brides and the awesome party that gypsyariana and supergoober threw for me a week and a half ago. I got back on Saturday and had to dance for a Persian New Year party outside of Charlotte, and that was one of the most miserable experiences ever, and then on Sunday we realized that my middle kitty, Thumper, was not just mildly sick, but super sick- his weight had melted off in the last couple of weeks- so had to take him to the vet on Monday. After spending a good chunk of the day trying to pay for tests on a limited budget with no definite results, we decided to try exploratory surgery (he'd lost half his weight and couldn't keep down water) knowing we had to use the wedding budget to do it. Surgery was postponed til Tuesday due to several emergencies that came in late Monday, and they didn't find anything. however, they thought a feeding tube would put him to rights and arrest the liver failure. Unfortunately on Thursday he had what they think was a stroke from a blood clot from the surgery, and then while the vet was talking to me about that he began seizing. After that he was no longer responsive to stimuli, and we had to euthanize him (the vet thought he would actually pass in less then 20 minutes but I couldn't bear the though of him passing with a grand mal (where they hit their heads, etc) as the vet says often happens in these cases, so had them euthanize him before that could happen). I don't regret the money we had to take out of the budget, but I'll apologize to everyone coming to the wedding as it may mean things aren't quite as wonderful as had originally envisioned. Just had to talk to the vet about cremation a few minutes ago. The best thing they do, free of charge, is take a plaster cast of his paw print to give to us to keep forever and ever. I love that!!!!
Just haven't been able to get my act together to write here about the dress stuff, but it's coming.
Had my first fitting yesterday at Park Road Alterations though. Trying to figure out what to do about the veil thing- wanted to wear my mom's but it doesn't look right with the dress, so trying to decide whether to wear it anyways (it's a big floor length mantilla with a wide lace edge), or find the money (hah) to make one myself or get a preowned one. Need to do a tea-stain on mom's anyways, so taking hers to a veil person to check on that before I make my decision. My mom never cleaned her veil from 1967 and it's gorgeous, so as a treat for her I do plan, if I don't wear it, to have it cleaned and preserved. Least I can do!
Here are the photos- the nice thing about Charles hating LJ and other such things, he'll never see the pics here! The hem is the same color as the dress but it looks off in the pics.
