A shadow fell across me and I looked up in surprise. A silhouette stood just to the right of the blinding sunlight. I tried shielding my eyes, but it did little to resolve the figure.

Yeah, both Edward and Carlos are going to be out of the picture for just a little longer while I address this side story I've kind of moseyed off into here, but I'll be back to them shortly I'm hoping...

I had actually been thinking of that very early on in writing the story. When I got up to this point though, I felt it would work out in the long run if I did it this way instead.
