Parenting Fail

Today i cleaned around my bed. and under my bed. This was actually a very big project. i took out 2 grocery bags full of papers. i found over 50 books. i found a 4" stack of magazines. i found a laptop computer and an external DVD drive in a box. i found over 10 notebooks and a couple dozen pens/pencils. Now... i have them all out. Neatly

So dinner wasn't what you had planned... yet you got all that other stuff done! It sure looks to me like you've got a longer "done" list than the "I didn't do enough" list. Just speaking from my own inner critic experiences... Just do what I do: Tell that bitch to shut the hell up or slap her with a delicious hot dog. Mine has a weak spot for chocolate chip cookies, so I often bribe her with them.. :)

Like Mistress Gaelan said, so what if you served vegan dogs? One night without elaborate food planning won't hurt anyone, and I'm sure at least your boys enjoyed them. Also, rather than congratulating yourself on all your hard work, you're taking time to belittle your achievements. Why? You rock as a mom, and a night of hotdogs and fries isn't a sign of a fail. After all, they got fed, didn't they? Time to take a moment to recognize how much you accomplished, and stop fretting over the few perceived negatives.

Very much agree with what's already been written--it's not like you handed them a bowl of Halloween candy and told them to have at it ;) (Which I've actually done once when I had a terrible stomach bug that resulted in my inability to stand up without falling over and/or getting horribly sick...on the upside, I won major "mom is the best" points--can you imagine being a 4- or 6-yo and being allowed free reign over the candy bowl?!)

Fantastic work cleaning all that stuff out--does it feel good to have that done? :)
