Although she was a few years older, Rachel Berry really hadn’t changed that much from the naïve sixteen-year-old girl who cried in Principal Figgins’ office when Mr. Ryerson was giving out solos to people who weren’t her for what may or may not have been less than pure intentions. She still wanted things too badly, that she’d freely admit, and she had a tendency to go a little bit over the top to get them. So when she realized that she had an opportunity to come to Hollywood and fix the problems plaguing the cast of Glee, she did her research and made maps and powerpoints and timelines and everything was planned out down to every minute detail. (How could she not, really? Life as she knew it was at stake, and she hadn’t yet had the opportunity to get that one thing she wanted most of all.) In all of her scheduling and diagramming though, it never once occurred to Rachel that she could just sit down with Dianna Agron and, within ten minutes of meeting the woman, know exactly what her feelings are about one Ms. Lea Michele.
Quinn was smart, and tough, and charming when she wanted to be, and, if she were completely honest with herself, Rachel really liked all of those things about her. But the one thing Quinn wasn’t was open and honest. So when Dianna came to and found herself laying on the couch in Heather and Naya’s trailer and wanted to sit down with Rachel and hear her out until she could truly understand what was happening, Rachel was shocked. And when Dianna learned their motive for coming to the real world, she was not only appreciative of their concern, but truly sympathetic to their plight.
“I am avoiding her,” Dianna had admitted when Rachel sat her down and explained that she and Quinn had heard the rumors about their fight and wanted to help them work through their issues. “But not because I’m mad at her.”
Rachel nodded, sitting down on the coffee table directly across from where Dianna rested on the couch. “Okay.” She took the other girl’s hands in her own, and waited for her to continue. “What is it, then?” she prodded after a moment of silence.
Dianna took in a deep breath and shuddered slightly before looking Rachel in the eyes. “I don’t know why I trust you,” she said after another moment had passed. “Maybe it’s because you remind me so much of her. I only just met you less than an hour ago, and I spent probably half of that time unconscious after I fainted. It’s just, I don’t know, you’re Rachel Berry. Isn’t that crazy? I mean, not to you, because you’ve always been Rachel Berry, but to me it’s just absurd.” Dianna wrested a hand away from Rachel’s and ran it through her hair before wiping the few tears that had straggled down her cheeks. “Rachel Berry!”
“That’s me,” Rachel confirmed, smiling. “Rachel Berry,” she made parentheses with her curved hands. “Gold star.”
Dianna smiled through her tears and took another deep breath. “I’ve never told anyone this before,” Dianna trailed off. “That’s a lie. There was that one time that Chris and Naya got me really drunk and I’m pretty sure I said some things I don’t remember because they started making a lot of suggestive comments after that and I’m not sure exactly where they came from, but - ”
“I’m pretty sure I have a monopoly on rambling rants.” Rachel smiled gently and reached forward, carefully brushing her hand through Dianna’s hair and resting it on her shoulder. “I think I know where this is going. You can trust me, I do have two gay dads, you know?”
Dianna met Rachel’s eyes in surprise, but fought the urge to flee. “I’m love with Lea.”
And while Dianna knew she was a member of the gay-friendliest cast in television and her family would love her no matter what, she didn’t expect her first sober coming-out to be met with a reaction quite like Rachel’s.
“Well, obviously,” she’d said, furrowing her eyebrows. “She looks just like me.”

Lea was late for hair and makeup but, as Quinn dragged her by the arm away from Finn and the trailers, she couldn’t bring herself to care. “So, Finn mentioned there was a powerpoint or something that might explain why you’re here?”
Quinn just tugged her arm harder to continue to drag Lea away from the trailers. “I don’t know, that’s RuPaul’s project,” she paused and glared at Lea. “The other RuPaul. And what are you doing with Finn anyway?”
“He found me!” she cried defensively. “I wasn’t doing anything with him, he saw me at the coffee shop down the street and thought I was Rachel but I didn’t know you were all here yet, so I assumed he was Cory and brought him back here. I assure you, had I known, I never would have messed with him. I know you’re after him again, I’ve read the upcoming scripts. I’ll keep my hands off your man.”
“You will if you know what’s good for you,” Quinn snapped, satisfied by the intimidation she saw cross Lea’s face. That lip-bite she does is too cute. It reminds me so much of what Rachel does when she’s scared, Quinn thought before doing a double-take at her own thought. Where the hell did that come from? If there’s one thing Treasure Trail isn’t, it’s cute.
“Alright, here’s the deal,” Lea spoke after a minute when she realized she was standing there being intimidated by a fictional character. “I am twenty-five years old. I have an Emmy on the fireplace mantle that I won because I’m good at what I do. You do not get to talk to me that way and I don’t have to defend myself to you. I’m not Rachel and you can’t step all over me. Got it?”
Quinn smirked, but looked into Lea’s eyes and nodded seriously. Doesn’t she have amazing eyes? And it’s fantastic that she’s so passionate about everything. Passion is something I have to admire in a person, a real turn-on. Quinn’s smirk faded and eyes grew wide as she realized what she’d just thought. That was unacceptable. She couldn’t have feelings for Lea, a girl, and a girl whose admired qualities mirrored those of her sworn enemy no less.
“No,” she finally spat out, turning away from Lea and beginning to run. I don’t ‘got it.’ You’re the one who has no friends! That’s why we’re here, what was in the powerpoint. You’re just a whiny crybaby diva actress who no one likes and you’re going to ruin the lives of a bunch of innocent kids in Lima, Ohio.” Quinn knew she was being petty and ridiculous and was in no way exuding the class and grace expected of her because of her last name, but she couldn’t stop. “And if those internet speculations are right, you probably can’t even get a date because you’re head-over-heels in love with your female costar who won’t even talk to you anymore. You’re a lesbian, Lea,” she spat, the word sounding dirty in her own mouth as she felt her face blush bright red. “A disgusting lesbian. It’s wrong to have feelings like that you know. Wrong!”
And Quinn finally shut her mouth and ran before she could say anything else. A stunned Lea stood and watched speechless as the cheerleader's sobs echoed off the walls of the buildings around them.
