It's been an up and down week. The dogs were in kennels on Sunday as we had to go to Solihull for the annual cat club AGM, at which I again failed to extricate myself from the committee, but at least things seem to be chugging along pretty much without me.
Because of the kennel's timetable they were away for two nights, and the cats were able to spend more time with us. The Orientals settled down very comfortably on the back of the sofa (and on top of the new sofa covers, to which I have sewn ties to secure them from Draco's attempts to turn them into nests).
We collected the dogs on Monday morning and stopped off on the way home to take them for a walk from Ongar to Greenstead church. I had time to browse the local charity shop and came away with a book of nature-inspired knitting patterns for the growing library.
I have been doing a number of small crochet projects, but decided to have a go at a full size cardigan. I didn't have any luck finding a decent yarn in the bright turquoise I'd have liked (well, not at a price I could afford) so ordered something described as 'Airforce blue' which is presumably the American Airforce as its nearer grey than blue, but crochets up to a nice fabric that would go with blue jeans (if I was still wearing jeans).
All this crochet stuff is on my Ravelry account and Ina_Jean's DW, though I am behind on blogging some of the earlier patterns.
And today I have managed to vac the stairs, clean the oven (yes, and the grill and the shelves!) burn another attempt at cooking Chicken Marengo (a favourite childhood dish that I am doomed never to reproduce the way Mother made it) and crocheted a tension square.
I have also failed to put last month's DD fanfic on AO3, finish the other two that I'm working on, or read any more of the three books I picked up at Eastercon of which I have read one chapter each. Bummer.
