Drove up to Brum yesterday in wipers-going-nineteen-to-the-dozen pouring rain, which had the small advantage of keeping the worst weekend drivers off the road and most people were doing a sensible 60 on the straight bits, even the lorrys. Listened to The Archers omnibus (Lil had her fingers in hear ears over Susan’s tea party - just as well I was driving) on the way up, and the RT free CD of The Stone Rose on the way back. The latter has some great images (if the Doctor in Ancient Rome is a bit (lot) OTT) and some nicely convoluted time paradoxery of the sort that classic Who should have indulged in more.
I have stopped worrying about what is and isn’t canon with Dr Who and decided that if I like it, it’s my canon, and if I don’t (this includes most of both the Baker Whos, McGann’s and about 80% of the books) I shall ignore it. After all, I’ve been ignoring entire series of Blake’s Seven and Starsky and Hutch for years now.
Because we hadn’t been able to print off the papers for the meeting (the only working printer is the high quality photographic one - NOT to be wasted on minutes) Lil took her laptop and I downloaded the stuff onto the stick I’ve been using at work. Slight hiatus when the first file that came up was Binks Bares All - the text of a round-robin chicklit send up I contributed to years ago. Now there’s a post retirement project…
And we missed the lunar eclipse - despite having a very clear view of the full moon.
