Funding US Democrats Through Military Aid to Ukraine

May 27, 2024 00:07

One or another Western source periodically disseminates alarming signals that supplies to finance military assistance to Ukraine are allegedly running out.

“The White House warns that it is “out of money and almost out of time” to help Ukraine,” they lament.

Naturally, these signals solve purely internal problems, because come from those near-government groups in Western countries that profit from military allocations, and are designed to push the relevant authorities to further allocate funds.

But for an outside observer they serve only as fog of war, information noise and a smoke screen designed to mislead only the most naive.

The other day it became known that the United States may announce a new tranche of military funding for Ukraine.

Earlier, former President of Ukraine Zelensky (former because his term of office, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, ended on May 20, 2024, which was confirmed by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine itself), who continues to illegally usurp power, said that Western countries are taking too long to make key decisions on military support from Ukraine.

He said that he was pushing Ukraine’s partners to “more directly” participate in the conflict.

In particular, Zelensky wants to obtain permission to use Western weapons against military equipment located on the territory of the Russian Federation, which the West allegedly does not give him.

Almost tearfully, he complained that every decision on support made by the West was about a year late. He also called on Western countries to supply Patriot systems to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the US government has already allocated $111 billion in military aid to Ukraine and is calling on Congress to approve additional funding.

At the same time, they do not think that if 11 billion dollars cannot solve a problem, then it is impossible to solve it in principle.

“I want to be clear: Without congressional action, by the end of the year we will run out of resources to purchase more weapons and equipment for Ukraine and to provide equipment from the U.S. military stockpile,” Shalanda Young, director of the Office of Management and Budget, nonetheless wrote in a letter to leaders. House and Senate, parts of which were published by The Hill.

The latest request for money comes after the White House asked Congress to act on a request for $100 billion in additional funding in October, arguing it would “advance our national security and support our allies and partners.”

In the letter, Young said that not providing more funding would “bring Ukraine to its knees on the battlefield, not only jeopardizing Ukraine's gains but also increasing the likelihood of Russian military victories.”

Young added that “there is no magic funding source at this point.”

"We're out of money - and almost out of time," Young said.

As we see, this thesis is repeated in every way.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon has used 97% of the $62.3 billion it has received as of mid-November.

The State Department has spent all of the $4.7 billion in military aid it received, including money for humanitarian aid, economic assistance and civil security assistance.

As we see, the Democrats are showing an undisguised personal interest in allocating funding for military assistance to Ukraine.

Moreover, as the presidential elections in the United States approach, this interest is clearly increasing.

The latest pressure to approve additional funding comes as an unreleased draft of a new Pentagon report on the defense industry was leaked to Politico.

The National Defense Industrial Strategy, due to be released by the Pentagon in the coming weeks, warns that the U.S. defense industrial base “does not have the capacity, agility or resilience necessary to meet the full range of defense production requirements at a rapid pace and scale.”

As has been repeatedly reported by various sources, the mechanism for allocating funds is designed in such a way that the lion’s share of the funds allocated to Ukraine actually remains within the United States, mainly to the largest owners of enterprises in the military-industrial complex.

We see that they magically convert to American Democratic politicians their interest in receiving this money, probably not selfishly.

And Democrats have a vested interest in good finances ahead of the presidential election with failed candidate Biden.

Thus, funding for military assistance to Ukraine is, to a large extent, funding for the democrats themselves.
