Almost 4 months ago, Sarah and I went to see NKOTBSB. This is the entry where I talk about it.
I got to Sarah's house early in the afternoon, and almost immediately the shit talking (mostly about the delusional sector of the fandom) began. While we were being petty bitches, she somehow injured/hurt her foot simply by standing against a wall while we talked. Like it just started aching out of nowhere. Maybe not completely out of nowhere since she was training for her half marathon, but she was just standing there and it started to hurt. (PAY ATTENTION, THIS IS AN IMPORTANT FACT.) I also acquainted myself with her (boyfriend's) adorable little cat, Peaches. I'm not really a cat person, but I'm totally a Peaches person. He's just an adorable little creature.
We got ready and departed for San Jose, which was about a 2-hour drive from where she lives so we had plenty of quality time with The Block, which of course led to lots of very insightful commentary regarding how dirty a lot of the lyrics are. This is my favorite:
Me: Here we go again, you know I like it when--
Sarah: (talking about something else, only kind of listening to my gorgeous singing)
Me: --you got your back to me, but not when you're mad at me
Sarah: --and I just realized how dirty that line is
And then there was also a moment on the freeway when someone cut me off and I honked and probably rhetorically asked, "What the fuck?!" while Sarah let out her own string of profanities and added, "This is why I can't drive." That amused me. Maybe because a song like Sexify My Love was playing in the background, I don't know.
The drive there was so fun. I'm mad I didn't type this up the day after because I'm forgetting all of the quotables. I said "Jordan" a lot, but that's predictable.
We had a light dinner at PF Chang's and then drove around HP Pavilion looking for parking, which was $20 at the actual arena. If we had cash, we probably would've paid that ridiculous amount because Sarah's foot was still hurting. Instead we found a garage that was only $10 and a little bit of a walk, though still painful for her.
After we got in, I wanted to look at the merch booth to perhaps purchase one of Jordan's kissed and autographed CDs, but I didn't see it :'( That's probably a good thing. They did have autographed copies of Nick Carter's mediocre CD for like $25 and Howie's single of remixes for like $5 lol. Then Sarah saw Leigh for like a split second. I guess she walked right passed us while we were trying to figure out where our seats were. I don't know, I wasn't paying attention.
We walked like halfway around the arena to get to the appropriate entrance to get to our seats. Then we walked down like the longest set of stairs to get to the floor. Every step I went down, my heart beat harder and harder lol. When we got to our seats and realized just how close we were, I could've cried. Or maybe I did, I don't know. All we knew is that we were going to get on that goddamn penis stage for INBYH. There was no way they could miss us. The girls directly in front of us were shorter than me so they were practically non-existent, and I can't remember what my excuse was for the first 2 rows... But we were determined to get on that stage.
We missed Ashlynne Huff (thank God) because we were looking for parking, and Matt Morrison didn't join the tour until after the San Jose show (thank God) so we didn't have to wait long for the show to start.
AND THEN IT STARTED AND BEING AT THE TIP OF THE PENIS STAGE WAS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!! Jordan was seriously like RIGHT THERE, and then Nick was also like RIGHT THERE. I couldn't breathe when they were RIGHT THERE, and it was so awesome!
Needless to say, Sarah and I did NOT get picked for INBYH so we quickly lost interest in that number lmao. But then Joey came out into the audience on our side during Tonight! I had to like push Sarah out of the way to get to him because remember, her foot was hurting. And then Nick and Brian were by us during SOMH so I knocked her over again lol.
What else happened... Nick poured water on himself at the end of Incomplete (I have a video, keep scrolling). Howie said Danny had more wood than a lumber yard or something like that. Donnie was hot. Joey wore those boots. Jordan was hot. Nick was hot. The rest of the members of both groups were also in attendance. Um... Oh! BSB sang Get Down!
Afterward, we went to hang out by the bus exit in hopes one or some of them would come out and say hi since there were no after parties. When Brian's bus drove out, he was in the front waving to the fans who had stuck around. Then Nick's bus came out, but we didn't see him. His bus was unmistakable though because Lauren's dog was riding shotgun and the tv was on Sports Center. Howie's bus was playing The Hangover as they drove out. Didn't see/decipher the rest.
Johnny, NKOTB's manager man, came out for a bit and was promising that he'd tell Jordan and Donnie to come out so naturally we start losing our shit in a cool way. He also informed us, though we already knew, that Jordan and Donnie had filmed the Stingy video just the week before. Except he pronounced it "sting-y" so I now read it that way when I see it lol. Jordan and Donnie never came out, but Jon did! He took a picture with a guy and then went back inside. That's all we really got standing out there for almost an hour. Just kidding, we also got Howie chapsticks lol.
Then we began the trek back to Sarah's house. Which included gems like:
Sarah: If I didn't know you, I'd hate standing next to you at concerts.
Me: ...oh
Me: I don't know if I really like Favorite Girl
Sarah: If you want to be Jordan's girlfriend, you have to like Favorite Girl!
Me: ...okay
We got home, played with Peaches a little, and then went to bed. And after typing all of this up, I wish like hell it was almost 4 months ago again. Or that I was going to Europe somewhere to see them, preferrably not general admission, thanks.
And the reason why people bother with concert entries: pictures and videos.
THE MOST FLAWLESS OPENING NUMBER TO ANY CONCERT EVER, post-Black & Blue
I wish I knew what they were laughing about. It seemed really amusing.

This happened as well.
This is when Nick poured water on himself. I saw him catch the bottle of water, use his teeth to open it, and knew this was coming. I've never moved so swiftly in my life to capture this.

As happy as I was that they had a NorCal show, it was hard to forget the fact that San Jose was squeezed between the Vegas and LA shows, which were obviously bigger deals with after parties and Kevin joining them and stuff. It felt like our show was kind of just a formality, like, "well okay we have to go to NorCal so we can just stick it in this little spot here, not do any after parties or anything like that, but the fans still can't hold it against us that we didn't do a show here." And yes, I'm probably reading a lot more into it than I should, but I kind of also got the feeling some of the group members felt the same way with their tweets of seemingly excessive gratitude before/after the show and saying "SAN JOSE" way more than I thought they said "PHILLY" when I was there. I don't know. It was still a great show either way. Did I mention we were 4th row at the tip of the penis stage? Because we were.
