Oh man. The Jabbawockeez were awesome.
For those of you who aren't familiar, the
Jabbawockeez won the first season of America's Best Dance Crew. Even though it said they were from San Diego on the show, 3 members are actually from Sacramento. Anyway, the reason they were here was to make an appearance at the finale of ABDC's ghetto cousin, Sacramento's Best Dance Crew. The event itself was pretty ghetto. It was held at this hall-type thing in practically the middle of nowhere. It was outdoors, but thankfully it was later in the afternoon with a slight breeze so it wasn't too too hot.
Um, I don't know how to say this. The whole thing was like a mini-Asian/Filipino Pride festival or something. I don't think I've ever seen so many Asians in my life while out of Asia. The "opening acts" were all Filipino. Most of the people working were Filipino. They were selling fucking
lumpia in cups for $4. Like really, I love the Philippines, I think our people dandy, but holy shit, I can only take so much at a time. 's why all my friends are white. ... Moving on.
One would think that if an event is getting the Jabbawockeez, they would throw them onstage at the end of the program. You know, build up the suspense, make people stay through your stupid Sacramento's Best Dance Crew finale show thing. You feel me? But no. Doors opened at 5, show started at 7, they were on at 8:30, and done at 8:40. After they finished everyone just looked at each other like, "Uh. That's it?" It was, indeed, it. The hosts gave no hope of them returning to the stage.
But fuck, was it worth it. They are so good. They are just ... so good. I mean, I get so excited and worked up when I watch them on YouTube. Not even on TV! On YouTube! Seeing them live was ... so good. I'm glad we ended up going, despite the thick Filipino pride air lol. A picture!
This is really the only good picture my brother got. They move too quickly lol. We didn't get video, but don't worry;
half of Sacramento did lmao. The videos refuse to play on my computer. I am sad.
Today, my cousins, brother, and I went kayaking at our nearby lake. I had never gone kayaking before so I'm gonna be balls ass sore tomorrow, especially since I don't really work out my arms. It was a lot of fun! I'm also excited to have gotten a little darker too because even though I'm practically black compared to my friends, I'm white compared to my family. Afterwards we went to watch fireworks at the mall. (That's a funny sentence.) They put on a great show that lasted 20 minutes. They even gave out 3-D glasses that made the fireworks look super trippy lol. Hope everyone had a great 4th!
... oh my God I'm addicted to my new layout.
