what would you compare global warming to
InadequateOne: give me one minute :-)
jbeachbabe711: is it like a disease slowly eating away the planet
jbeachbabe711: somewhere along those lines
jbeachbabe711: i was thinking
jbeachbabe711: like a (blank) disease, global warming breaks down the source of our temperature balance (the ice caps) , slowly , increasing the....
jbeachbabe711: idk
jbeachbabe711: that's what i can come up with at the moment
jbeachbabe711: please help me expand
InadequateOne: global warming is the process by which fossil fuels increasingly destroy the delicate balance of the planet's ecosystems by drastically increasing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The essential quality of this gas is that of a mirror, as opposed to a window. Where formerly the planet was like a glass sphere, letting light in and out, the atmosphere now traps light into the planet, increasingly baking the earth and melting the polar ice caps. The smallest of margins in temperature increase, if repeated over a period of years, can upset natures precious balance, resulting in the loss of biodiversity. Biodiversity is a trait in nature whereby species have fitted themsevles and their life cycles closesly to that of the passing seasons. The loss of diversity breaks down food pyramids and can destroy creates great and small. The destruction of habitats are also destroying natures balance,
InadequateOne: and this will only get worse as coastal wetlands are submerged under the rising tides of the ocean.
InadequateOne: say thank you
jbeachbabe711: thank you
jbeachbabe711: but
jbeachbabe711: i'm asking you to help me with a good intro
jbeachbabe711: like the example i gave you
jbeachbabe711: to help me expand it
jbeachbabe711: into something great
jbeachbabe711: i understand pretty well what global warming is
InadequateOne: Like a malignant disease, global warming attacks the fundamental balance of the earth's temperature. The burning of fossily fuels for energy is like a virus the entire planet contracted, and the final stages of this great threat to life on earth is that of an ignornace of the disease itself. The only cure is knowledge and action. something like that
jbeachbabe711: the reason i compare it to a disease is because i look at it and see what it does and i see that it is eating away and consuming the planet, just like a disease would do to a person correct?
jbeachbabe711: or not a good analogy/
jbeachbabe711: ?
InadequateOne: the warming of the planet is eating away at the coldest parts of the planet.
InadequateOne: like a fever.
jbeachbabe711: very true
jbeachbabe711: so it is very much like a virus
jbeachbabe711: does a virus eat away and consume
jbeachbabe711: or does a virus come and go
InadequateOne: the virus is the reliance on fossil fuels for energy, the symptoms are rash destruction of resources and lack of investment in alternative energy, as well as ignornace of the virus and its detrimental effects.
InadequateOne: The virus is the burning of fossil fuels, that can come and go
jbeachbabe711: but has an everlasting effect..
jbeachbabe711: or impact
InadequateOne: the disease of ignorance and lack of action on people's part is a disease of culture and passivity, and a possible source of the virus
InadequateOne: the cure is alternative energy, action, and knowledge.
InadequateOne: and scientific research into how to best restore the balance to our planet.
InadequateOne: we are sucking the fossilized guts of our planet and using that energy as a fever to destroy our ice and swell our oceans.
jbeachbabe711: yes
jbeachbabe711: and these greenhouse gases
jbeachbabe711: they are like
jbeachbabe711: what could be something that doesn't allow the virus to leave the body
jbeachbabe711: probably ignorance again
jbeachbabe711: because if no action is taken to contradict the virus then the virus can only stay
jbeachbabe711: if not it will leave but only eventually when it's done doing it's damage
jbeachbabe711: ?
InadequateOne: greenhouse gases are like arterial blockage, stoping healthy bloodflow of the living planet, in this case, the flow of solar or radiant energy into and out of our planet
InadequateOne: yes. the virus dies when the person dies I belive
