Blind Items and Happy Birthday Mom (last July 31)

Aug 04, 2008 15:14

The following entry was supposed to have been posted last Friday, August 1, but our internet went bonkers on me so it failed to upload. Good thing I was able to save it. Yun nga lang, I wasn't able to post all weekend cause Mike hogged the home computer reading mangga forever! As in he didn't come with us to Serendra, didn't go to his friend's birthday party, didn't play Magic the Gathering (gasp!) because the mangga he was reading was apparently that good. Hahaha!

Hindi naman bastos yung mangga as far as I can tell. I think it's about football players. But what do I know?

Henihoo, here it is:

Chizmizz you wouldn't find on The Buzz. Let's see if you can guess.

  1. After a hundred million years, sila na. And they're not telling unless you ask. So ASK!
  2. She's pregnant and the father's family (especially the wife) is so furious that they will help her rivals so that she will fail.
  3. He is ready to propose. As in he already asked the parents and already has a ring. Just waiting for the right time.
Each number refers to different people.

Can you guess who they are???

It was my Mom's birthday yesterday (edit: last thursday). Happy Birthday Mom! Greet her. She reads this. Anyway, she decided to take a birthday leave, so I brought her the best gift a child can give her mom. Grandchildren. The girls and I hung out with Lola Vinchu all afternoon. Desi graced us with her cuteness and stinky farts, and Lia entertained us by singing non stop. And then in the evening, we left the babies in Katipunan while we watched 100 with Dad, Ia, Ayo and Tita Anette.

I really loved the movie. It was smart, and funny and poignant and sad all in the right times, with just the right mix. It also got me thinking of what I would do if I only had 3 months to live.

  • go to London.

  • make videos for Lia and Desi to watch for each of their birthdays until... well, for as long as i can still take videos of myself. Sana kaya until they're 25. So that's about 25 videos each, 50 videos to do before I die.

  • take lia and desi to disneyland.

  • spend a lot of alone time with Mike, probably in Baguio.

  • plan my wake and funeral. I want to be cremated and I don't want my ashes to be kept in the house.

  • throw a theme party. everyone must come as a pirate or a princess. not in costume, mumultuhin ko. hindi pumunta sa party, mumultuhin ko rin.

Mylene Dizon, who won best actress for her portrayal of the dying girl in the movie was there at the UP Film Center and spoke to the audience briefly after the show. Then of course, she, and the director, Chris Martinez were mobbed by people who wanted autographs and pictures with them.

Wouldn't it have been funny if someone came up to them and yelled, "Mylene! Mylene! Pa-picture naman! Mamamatay na ako!"

Or maybe not.

One thing that struck me about the movie was, when her mom (played by Tessie Tomas) found out she was dying, she refused to just accept it, and she fought and did everything, anything to make her daughter better. Like she NEEDED to hope. She needed to feel there was something she can do, even if there really wasn't, except make her last days happy and comfortable. How does one cling to hope i the face of death?

Hay. HAPPY THOUGHTS!

So, have you guessed who the blind items are?

Clues:

  1. these people lived together before naging sila
  2. alleged unborn child's mother, minor tv celebrity. alleged father, major MAJOR showbiz and political celebrity
  3. sikat sa ateneo

Let the speculetating begin!

family, friends, birthdays, review
