="This is gold, girl!" --Valencian folk etymology of "horchata"
Has anyone ever had horchata? It's a Mexican agua fresca, a (non-alcoholic) drink made out of rice with cinnamon, vanilla, and almonds (anything with cinnamon and vanilla is alright in my book; they're some of my favorite flavors). I tried it once at Miss Wandzura's about a year ago, and sort of forgot about it for a while. Then I remembered, and figured it was worthwhile looking in one of the local Mexican groceries to see if they had it. And they did, in a sort of liquid concentrate bottle thing that you mix with water. (I feel good, I spoke to the guy entirely in Spanish. Oddly enough, I'm better at speaking than I am at listening comprehension.) It's got a bit of a chalky, grainy texture, and it settles out if you let it sit for too long, but you can always shake/stir it up again, and it's really tasty. Not exactly healthy, mind (Con azúcar!), but really good. Worth trying, if the chance comes up. (And if they have it in our little town in Tennessee, they certainly have it down in Texas.)
I just saved all 32 other entries on this Livejournal. And after having Internet Explorer randomly crash twice in the space of a few days, I decided to fully convert to Firefox.
A Spot of Bother is an ff.net author that's written a ton of AxelRoxas, but Mai's almost certainly already read her. I haven't looked at her long fic, yet. And I'm slowly cultivating the habit of leaving reviews on ff.net.
And, oh gods, after seeing what a friend of mine had let his hair do, I just wanted to jump him then and there. But he wouldn't've liked that. . . *is a terrible pervert* I was also insanely hyper today, for no explicable reason, as well as almost deliriously happy. I kept wanting to randomly give people hugs.
