A belated Happy New Year. (Or an early Chinese New Year, whichever you prefer.)
Yeah, I totally used the ongoing tickle war as an excuse to more-or-less grope several of my guy friends on Friday night. Several more people are convinced I'm gay.
A friend of mine ought to have arrived in Israel by now; he'll be there several months studying. !כול המזל לו כשהוא שם
My Japanese friend said something terribly cute today: "If you were a girl, you'd be like my younger sister. And if I were a guy, I'd be your boyfriend." She also introduced me to Angela Aki, who is an awesome singer.
"The Moral Instinct" and "Waving Goodbye to Hegemony" are two interesting New York Times articles I've read recently. The former made me go "Aha! See! David Hume!" at the part about emotion and morality and moral rationalization, and the latter made me think that I really might actually want to be a diplomat.
National politics-wise, the thing troubling me most is whether Hillary or Obama stands the best chance at beating McCain, or whether they even can, if the Republicans have the sense to nominate him. (That aside, I tend to prefer Hillary, somewhat contrary to other young people.)
