so it seems i got uti cos even when wfh, i don't have time to pee, fml. the doc sha ren fang huo and charged me s$80 for the visit, augmentin (antibiotics) and ural (which thankfully tastes quite pleasant). then i remembered that back when i was hospitalised in hk for ~5 days for a bad stomach infection, the bill also came up to s$80 for the entire stay, ct scans, food, medication etc all inclusive. lol. what's the funniest is that it's not even as if the medication i'm getting now is more advanced, cos during my hk hospital stay, i was also treated with augmentin!
other than that, this week is shaping up to be quite busy and it's already december... an even busier month! so many things i'd rather do, like watching all the shows on hbo go including dune, the wheel of time series on amazon prime, the eternals in the theatres, play the sims, and continue reading nlb overdrive's entire collection of all the super lame super laughable trashy jg romance novels. but no, i have to work instead. zzz.
also, i'm planning to repot (actually, just fiddle with) a number of my house plants, and i'll be getting a few small new ones. hoping i don't kill them quickly and that they survive and thrive for a long while at home!
the last time i bought from this noah garden, which is actually just a network of suppliers, two of the three plants i bought came diseased. only one remains today (the string of nickels, among my faves) though it's doing very well indeed, but it was also the cheapest, like s$8. i had to quickly dispose of the boston fern cos i discovered only a couple of weeks later that it was entirely infested with mealies, and much later i got rid of the double-petaled blue peas cos its broadmites had spread throughout nearly all my outdoor edibles - the pandan, chilli, sweet potato, etc etc. - and despite many attempts and trimming it till botak, i still could not get rid of the broadmites on the blue pea.
so if you ask me, i really wouldn't recommend getting any expensive plants from this noah garden. the only reason i'm using it again this time is because they make it much easier than to go physically scouting for various plants you want; it's also more affordable than buying individual plants off, say, shopee. and i can shunbian get some soil, plastic trays, etc from them too. this time i got just a small pennywort, a small asparagus fern and a small mini poinsettia from them - they don't seem to be the type to be likely to harbour any major pests invisible to the naked eye. may these not become famous last words, fml.
many other things i actually really want to buy, but cost many times the prices of these small items, that's why i'm holding back (like apple products and bikes). this brings me back to that stark memory from 2018 when i was officially informed that i had had a spectacular pay rise and i decided to celebrate by treating myself to a venti-sized cup of iced tea at the starbucks downstairs. days later, i was to thank my lucky stars that i didn't like go and instantly put down a downpayment on a luxury home or what, because it turned out to be a !@#$ mistake by my boss' boss. i did get a raise and a bonus, of course, but nothing of those proportions. it eventually led to my resignation, but that's another story.
anyway, following that incident, i no longer allow myself to ever "celebrate" any raise or bonus or monetary benefits from work because i have to brace myself for the prospect that it may eventually be rescinded because of some hapless idiot's screw-up or something. i won't believe anything until it's in black and white and safe in my bank account and steadily coming in every month. even then, i think i will continue to have my doubts.
so, yeah, no new iphone or road bike for me for now. also, i should really be saving any spare cash i have lah, due to my enormous expenditures in home reno etc over the past year. alright, out for now and back to my latest ridiculous jg novel!
