Lala how the life goes on

Things have taken a pleasant upswing in the last few days. Most of it has to do with how serenely uneventful they've been.

It was punctuated by seeing two huge overdraft fees on my Chase account actually being CREDITED BACK to me. That was a really big use--I'd be overdrawn again if it weren't for it. I think it might have to do with having a connection on the inside or the fact that I had a sympathetic and completely unknown to me teller when I went in this past Thursday to discuss other things with my account.

As it turns out, I was being charged $29.95 a month since November by this really shady "company." Ok, I'm probably putting myself in the running for Doofus Of The Year by admitting this, but I had gotten a call from this one guy (with a thick Indian accent, I might add--totally should've set off warning signals there) who said that I was selected by them to receive this free prize package or something. All they needed to send it to me was my credit card number (again, I'M SO STUPID!) to pay for the shipping charges. I heard that Chris and Devon had done something similar a few weeks before that, I didn't give it a second thought. I gave them my info and they said I should expect a package from them soon.

Well, I had completely forgotten about it and didn't really think to follow up.

Meanwhile, I had been suffering through charge after charge of NSF fees for overdrawing my account who knows how many times.

So, after a bit of research, I saw one of those $29.95 charges on my transaction statement just the other day. After having lunch with Devon this past Thursday, I had gone in to Chase and spoke with a very sweet and understanding personal banker. She noted that I had been charged that amount once a month since November. She promptly put a stop to that by setting me up with a new card which I expect to arrive soon.

Today, I checked my balance again online because I feared I may not have enough to last me the week, when I saw a credit of about $210 for two large overdrafts credited back to me. When I had spoken with the personal banker, I hadn't explicitly asked her if I could refund those back to me, but I think she may have done just that. Either that, or my pestering to my friend Nick who works for Chase may have done the good deed. I can't tell which.

I'm also only one paycheck away from having enough money to get Devon's Mom's car. I'm so excited. I can't wait for my new car.

Even better--these random guys that were driving through the neighborhood let me know that they were interested in buying Mina from me, despite me being up front about what was wrong with her. Hopefully I can get at least $300 from them, if not the asking price.

And to top it all off, I am getting a good bonus this quarter on my paycheck this Friday.

I really gotta say, after a rocky start, this week's ended on a fairly charmed note.

I'm giddy.

Plus I was able to manage without having to have dinner--just some popcorn and soymilk for dinner. Yum.
