Sometimes you can feel it all

This weekend was excellent! As always, I'm sad that it's over so soon, but I'm glad that I was able to fill it to the brim with things to do.

Friday night, I came home and rested for a bit. Later on, I went to see The Static Session at the Surly Wench. Their opening band, The Former Friends Of Young Americans, was pretty awesome too. Very mellow, very trancey.

Anyway, the boys from Static were awesome (formerly The Year of Acceleration, En Pace Requiescat). They're so entertaining. Their sound just makes me melt. I set adrift on their beautiful and rich melodies inside a ship of their lyrics, delivered with a slight melancholic lilt. It's a bit hard to describe, but if you're like me and can really listen to a song, you'll hear what I mean.

To think, I have my Ex to thank for getting me in to this band.

I digress. My Friday was awesome. Gloria joined me--though because the bands were running late in getting set-up, she left before The Static Session got a chance to go on.

Saturday was mostly laundry day. After which, I went to la casa de Devon (and others, of course). There, I was able to put the finishing touches on the main part of my costume. All that is needed now is just some work on my accessories and I'll be all set to go for Halloween. I can't reiterate how excited I am! This is gonna be SO fantastic :)

Today, I went to Willcox with the gang (Devon, Chris, Mikey, Cheyenne, her daughter Rose and Rose's son Ethan), specifically to Apple Annie's Orchards and Pumpkin Patch.

First, we went in to the large corn maze, which was in the shape of the design used for the Arizona state quarter. It was so fun. I kept suggesting that we splinter off and see who could make it out of the maze first, but no one would take. After a series of run-ins with other maze-goers, we finally made our way out.

After that, we took a hayride to the pumpkin patch, where I found a large, round, orange beauty that I couldn't help but let pass me by. I felt guilty enough lopping off the vines from the stem, so I'm definitely not going to let the poor thing die in vain by carving it up into a jack 'o lantern, so I'm gonna have my grandma make pumpkin pie and/or empanadas. Mmm... I can almost taste 'em now.

From there, we traversed up the road a few miles to the actual Orchard (the corn maze and pumpkin patch were in their own separate spots). The smell of the different apple varieties and goods was so delicious. Apple pie, cinnamon apples, apple cider and other sweet, heavenly smells greeted us when we first arrived. It had been vaguely established before we first came that we were gonna do actual fruit picking at the orchard, but after waiting a half an hour in line for lunch (apple smoked hamburgers-OMG! So good!), the general group consensus was that we were already too worn out to do more meandering. After a slice of apple crumb pie a la mode (needless to say--YUM!), we were bade adieu to Willcox and trekked back home to Tucson.

I finished off my evening quietly. We saw a movie and played we back at Dev's house before I made my way back to mine, proudly showing off my prize pumpkin to my grandma and uncle. :)

Oh, and the best part! The signs of fall are finally apparent! Not only was this evidenced to me by the imagery of a harvest bounty at the orchard and pumpkin patch, but the weather has actually cooled off! I got a chance to wear this really cute t-shirt with thermal sleeves combo and I felt so comfortable.

Anyway, at length, I loved my weekend (despite a bit of a few attempts at drama carryover from Friday's minutia).

As much as I love staying productive, I really wish I could sometimes take the time and just laze out you know?

Then again, if I do, it feels like I'm wasting the weekend.

Feh... can't win either way :p
