[The video comes on, and it adjusts for a moment before focusing on Sissel's face. He looks really amused, for some reason.]

Hey, I want you to take a look at this. Lynne, doesn't this remind you of a certain crazy character you know?

[He turns the camera to show his Pidgey.]

[Which is currently dancing.]

[Well, it isn't really dancing, but it is ( Read more... )

[Man, if only he could reply to these feeds without POKÉMON ATTACKING HIM-- but alas, when Miles' response comes, before he could even reply there's a Plusle jumping on his head, followed by a Wooper, and then a Growlithe, all catapulting on and off his head before they continue their game of tag. And Miles, rubbing his neck because ow that kind of hurt turns back to the camera, a quiet Charmander sitting on his lap with one end of his scarf around her own neck, hands clinging to his shirt. And there is a large Arcanine seated behind them both. Sissel - Miles Edgeworth's team in summary. :|b Oh, and there's a small Cubone sleeping on Miles' knee, too.]

...I was going to explain, but I think you already know what they're like now.

[beat]

Hello, Mr. Sissel.

[Sissel opens his mouth to say hello at the first sight of Miles, but he watches as Miles' team swarms him. There's a pause, and then Sissel laughs with amusement.]

I can certainly see that. Hello, Miles. You doing okay?

Hey, that's how they show they love you, I guess.

Pretty good. Though now I'm apparently in a competition with your sister to see which one of us has the best Skarmory.

I guess. I know they're just having fun, so..

[He grimaces. He hadn't parted with his sister on the best of terms again... and for now, he doesn't feel like being nice. :|a ]

I see... I'll bet she's already claimed her victory prematurely?

Pretty much, yes. I have no doubt she's trying to make hers shinier just so she can boast how she's better at it than I am.

She seems like the person who always wants to win. Losing must be a sore point with her, I'm guessing.

Losing and being anything less than perfect is unforgivable to her.

It's.. it's her personality, too, I suppose, but I'm afraid it has more to do with our guardian...

She's the definition of "perfectionist", huh?

...Your father?

My guardian. Franziska's father.

My father has already passed away.

I'm sorry.

....It's all right.

Anyway, Mr. von Karma.. her father. He's a perfectionist, won't accept anything less. The way he raised her must have put a lot of pressure on her..

Like father, like daughter, eh? Guess she didn't just pick it up from nowhere.

I'm guessing he was very strict?

...

Did he want you to be the same way? Like your sister, I mean.

He said he'll raise me into a prosecutor, as perfect as him, so I could take revenge on the criminal that got away with my father's murder. So that I can, like him, ensure no criminal gets away with impunity.

That's what he took me in for, after all.

Well, the thought is good, at least. But I can't help but think that taking revenge is going a bit too far.

[His mouth creases into a serious frown.]

...Back where I came from, there was a man who was solely bent on getting revenge on the people who he thought ruined his life. But he did it by killing them.
