WOOOHOOOO!!!
So this morning, at 10:00am, I had a phone interview for a job back in Winona.
I thought it went well; it was a ten minute interview that lasted for half an hour.
She said she'd have her decision by Wednesday.
At 2:00pm today, I get a phone call offering me the position! I guess the interview went as well if not better than I thought it did!
The sad part about this is that I will no longer be going to Texas to work at the faire. But I talked with my boss about it, and he told me that he wouldn't have been able to guarantee me any hours anyway (like he does at this faire) because of the recent hurricane. Apparently the last time a hurricane came nearby the faire site, the ticket sales decreased dramatically, and there was even a day that they rented only one costume the whole day. So there is less need for workers at the booth. I guess it all is working itself out.
I have to start figuring things out now, like what airport to fly out of, how I'm getting to the airport, and what day I'll be leaving. I'm going to try and find a flight out on Tuesday or Wednesday, the 14th or 15th of October. Fortunately, the company doesn't need me to come home any sooner than that, so I won't be missing any of the rest of Northern Faire. I really feel like this is a great opportunity, because the job is temporary though the end of 2010, which gives me a definitive timeline for saving up money, getting bills paid off, and the goal of moving back out to California.
On an entirely different note:
- I changed my ringtone to Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction" which is freaking sweet and is an adequate temporary replacement for "Weapon of Choice". Though I am now highly tempted to get "The Bad Touch" as my ringtone, because I heard it twice on Saturday and was amazed at how many people know the lyrics like I do! It would be hilarious to have my phone start ringing and have random people start singing. I tried to change my text message ringtone to the techno remix of "Take On Me", but I got sick of it after a few rings and missed hearing "oooh baby baby, baby baby" come out of my phone. Plus, people always start dancing when that song starts playing. Mwah ha ha, I will be able to get people to spontaneously sing AND dance soon!
- I have a new icon! It was made for me by sams-republican and I LOVE IT. It's based on the X-Files episode called Tooms from first season, and it's one of my favorite quotes of the whole series. My other favorite quote is:
Mulder: Did you know that the best way to regenerate body heat is to crawl naked into a sleeping bag with someone else whose already naked?
Scully: Maybe if it rains sleeping bags you'll get lucky.
- I ordered my faire favors! They are going to be SO INCREDIBLY AMAZING!!! I am thinking of putting them in a baggie with a piece of parchment, so that everyone will have all my contact info also. I am also trying to think of/find ideas for a quote to put on the parchment, either something to do with rain, or friendship, or something along those lines. So far I've had no luck but I'll keep searching.
- Summary of 4th weekend for the masses: Weekend = awesome. I will have a few pictures from the guard dinner to put up, but I really didn't take that many. I tend to forget I have a camera on a regular basis.
- My faire parents, Ken & Margo will be up next weekend. SO EXCITED. I definitely need to make the most of these last few weekends of faire.
