Alien Viewpoints [for mind_your_elder]

The storage building is a utilitarian thing of concrete blocks and plastic, one of those areas of design where humans and Yeerks are almost indistinguishable. Telrim doesn’t normally count it as a perk, but it’s almost always deserted and innocuous-looking, if you don’t have the heightened senses necessary to pick up on the faint smells of blood and chemicals that cling to the bare floor. And it’s on the other side of the world from the centre of Yeerk operations.

That might protect her as much as them.

As always, the grey-painted walls are partly hidden by stacks of crates, boxes and carefully-wrapped objects in varying shades of plastic and cardboard. Some of them are covered in a thin layer of dust. There are never enough people here for busywork. There are a few aisles leading to things near the back, mostly sealed cases, which are never allowed to get dusty. The things at the front are currently masked by statues and framed paintings, some bigger than others, and a few open boxes. There’s a couple of workbenches for the smaller and more delicate items, and Telrim is almost finished setting them out.

She flips through the lone sketchbook, though only Natasha’s actually looking at it. Then she reaches into the bag below the workbench and adds one last thing to the table, near the back.

Well, this will be interesting, she remarks, getting her host’s attention as she picks up the PINpoint and goes to invite their guest in. And I suppose that’s a good enough Yeerk reason.

They appear in the Nexus, Telrim fully in control this time as she glances around for any bird-like aliens evident in the vicinity.
