Amber eyes darted between heads of black hair, clearly frustrated. “Come on, guys,” he whined, looking very much the sad puppy.
“No,” Severus said plainly, lobbing the item Remus lusted after to Sirius. He’d thought hell would freeze over before he’d cooperate with Black on anything, but death had a way of changing your mind. What did a grudge mean now?
“Come on!” Remus’ voice grew whinier as he struggled between them. “It’s not fair.”
“Life isn’t fair… well, death, isn’t fair.” Severus snorted as he caught the chocolate bar, a cruel smirk on his face. After all, only chocolate could bring together the worst of enemies.

Year after year he’d kept up his quiet observation…the child never understood, but then it was never for Harry. It was getting cold as he lay there, looking up at Harry from the filthy floor of The Shack. Silver seeped from his eyes, his pores, Severus letting Harry know that every day was spent watching.
