Deirdre's 100 Things
Because I'm still waiting to post Peter's second 100 things (there's actually like...175...heh) I thought I'd post 100 things for the other characters involved in his adventures. And Deirdre Gallagher is the most important one of those since she came first!
100 Things About Deirdre-Rose Ionúin Gallagher
1. Deirdre-Rose Ionúin Gallagher was born in Dublin on the 29th of October, 1988.
2. Deirdre's parents are both redheads who met at University and married soon after. They married young, conceived Deirdre on their honeymoon, and Deirdre's mother had just turned 19 when she was born. Deirdre's father had just turned 20.
3. Deirdre's mother's name is Caitlin. She was born Caitlin Kelley, became Caitlin Gallagher. She has since married and divorced again. She is now Caitlin O'Connor. Because she is a well known photographer, she will keep his as her professional name after she marries Finian O'Flaherty in September, 2007 but she plans to take his name personally.
4. Deirdre's father's name is Liam. He was a power-hungry business man who was so hell-bent on dominating other people that he picked himself up a demonic spirit along the way, while he and Caitlin were dating. Because of this, Deirdre was born a demon.
5. Liam's increasingly stifling personality caused free-spirited Caitlin to leave the family when Deirdre was just 5. Deirdre was left to be raised by a largely absent Liam.
6. Liam has an older sister, Marilyn. Deirdre spent a lot of her younger days on Marilyn's farm with her cousins Evanna Reeves lady_evanna and Duncan Reeves. They even spent time with the children from the next farm over, owned by Angel and Lou Rivers who fostered several children including lee_rivers and occasionally helequin
7. During her relationship with Liam, Caitlin had made good friends with Marilyn. After she left her family, she maintained this friendship though she was careful to stay away when Deirdre was visiting. Because of this, Evanna and Duncan saw more of Deirdre's mother than she did, and by extension, they spent more time with her half siblings as well, even though they were not related to them.
8. When Deirdre was 11, Liam got a job offer from a firm in London. He relocated to a house in Eltham and Deirdre felt lost without her best friend and cousin, Evanna. Deirdre had always been introverted while Evanna was a classic extrovert. This made it hard for Deirdre to make friends at first, but she eventually bonded with a girl named Melissa Asher littlesoulbird and a boy named Michael Blake keep_me_silent
9. Without her Aunt Marilyn to look out for her, Deirdre was left largely alone in her house when she wasn't at school. Liam was increasingly absent and even when he was at home, he closed himself in his office and spent virtually no time with his daughter. Even the time Deirdre spent at Melissa or Michael's house wasn't enough to make up for the loss of Aunt Marilyn. Deirdre learned to be quite self-sufficient in taking care of herself because she had no other choice.
10. Because Deirdre learned to be independent at the age of 11, she is a fantastic cook. She can make, literally anything. And not only that, but she can make the most mundane things taste like gourmet meals.
11. Deirdre doesn't only cook, she cleans. In fact, she fired their maid when she was 14 because Deirdre was better at keeping the house spotless. Deirdre not only cleans, she likes to clean. She enjoys doing dishes. Deirdre is weird.
12. Because of the way Deirdre grew up, she has various control issues. She never felt parental love and the one thing she could do was keep the house spotless for her father. She still sought his approval for everything. She maintained straight A's in all of her classes to impress him. Because of her intense desire for control, she probably found it easier to overcome her demon side once it manifested.
13. When Deirdre was around the age of 16, she realised she was beginning to like Melissa as more than just a friend. She even kissed her, which caused Melissa to become quite scared. Melissa left London to go live with her father in Nottingham and Deirdre turned to Michael for comfort. They slept together which was the first time Deirdre had ever had sex. When he wanted a relationship and she didn't, Deirdre found she had lost both of her best friends. Over a kiss.
14. As luck would have it, Liam had purchased a rather large pair of flats across the street from Regents Park a few years before and he had spent lots of money having them renovated in to one very large and opulent house. It was twice the size of the house in Eltham and a few weeks after Melissa fled to Nottingham, Liam and Deirdre moved into the new house.
15. Deirdre started attending a private school called London College which was nearby. She made a vow to herself before she started, that she would be more open to people, instead of being the shy wallflower she had been before. She was going to be proactive instead of reactive. And instead of chickening out, she actually did.
16. Deirdre met a few people when she transferred into her new school, but none of note until she met Renee Baudrillard seminalsemiotic. Renee had transferred from Paris the previous year but she spoke English better than most of the English students. She wore sexy boots at lunch because she could get away with breaking the dress code then. And she spent time in the library for fun. Just like Deirdre. Deirdre developed a crush immediately.
17. Renee and Deirdre became fast friends because neither of them had met anyone else that understood them as well as they did each other. They both had acquaintances, but not friends. And so they bonded. And then one night Renee invited Deirdre over for dinner, planning on seducing her. But Deirdre made the first move, kissing Renee first even though she was terrified because of what happened with Melissa. This time, it paid off.
18. Deirdre and Renee spent a lot of time going to Dante's poetry bar where Renee would do readings. The first time they went there, Renee read Sylvia Plath and she wore a red kimono. Deirdre ordered a latte and Renee had absinthe. Deirdre remembers it like it was yesterday.
19. Deirdre's relationship with Renee strengthened Deirdre's resolve and she started standing up to her father. The demon in her father didn't like being challenged so one night he hit Deirdre with his briefcase, knocking her into a wall. He hit her in the face as well, and she fled to a nearby friend's house and stayed with him. Worried that any official charges would harm his reputation, Liam accepted a transfer to the US and he signed the house over to Deirdre as a bribe to keep her quiet. She accepted.
20. Deirdre became legally emancipated from her father at the age of 16 and the house was officially under her name. Because she had never had a family, she asked her friends to move in with her, rent-free. She wanted to be surrounded by people. To this day, 211-213 Victoria Lane remains a refuge for people to live in rent-free or stay in if they need a place.
21. When Deirdre was about 14, Caitlin began to make a name for herself in photography. She had remarried and had 3 more children (Erin, Sean and Dylan) and once she started becoming well known, she went to London for gallery openings. When she was in town, she visited her daughter who hadn't seen her since she was 5. They started to bond a little, but Deirdre still called her 'Caitlin' instead of 'mam'. It was on one such bonding trip, that Caitlin bought Deirdre her tattoo. It's a small claddaugh symbol on the small of her back. She also has a pierced tongue (it vibrates!) and a naughty piercing that you don't get to see!
22. When Deirdre's father moved to the US and Renee moved in with Deirdre, Caitlin made an effort to become closer with her daughter. She immediately bonded with Renee over their shared love for photography and their similarly open mannerisms. Deirdre was mostly just mortified that her mother insisted on calling her 'Didi'.
23. After her father left, Deirdre sank into a depression, which didn't actually have anything to do with him. She stopped eating and she slept all the time. She even failed to turn in an essay, something Deirdre never did as she usually had them finished the day they were assigned. A housemate found her unconscious on the floor and he had her committed...without telling Renee. Or Deirdre. In fact he didn't tell Renee until the next day. This ended their friendship and severely damaged his bond with Deirdre. It did, however, see Deirdre's recovery.
24. In the midst of therapy, Deirdre let slip that her father abused her. As is required by law, the therapist informed the police and it went on record. Liam was fired from his job. He was Not Happy.
25. Once Deirdre was released from the clinic, she began modelling clothes for a fashion class at London University on the advice from a friend that she'd make a good model. Her work there saw her getting other modelling jobs where she met fellow model Jude McKenna firehaunted
26. Deirdre started bonding with several others as well, forming the base of her new friendship group. Jude, Stephanie 'Slink' Marsh slinkster_ghoul and Ry Chambers epithet_ (Who had been an acquaintance of Renee's before they became closer) chief amoung them. Ry, Jude and Stephie eventually moved in to Victoria Lane, as well as Renee's childhood best friend Pierre Beaudreaux eligible_boy who had moved from Paris and needed a place to stay.
27. Deirdre and Renee spent their friend Christmas with Deirdre making Renee a traditional English meal. Renee loved all of it. Except the pudding...
28. Caitlin came to visit for Christmas as well, and she gave Renee an old camera which had been restored. She used to use it and she was passing it on. Deirdre got a sweater. She wasn't pleased.
29. Shortly after the new year in 2006, Renee was walking to work when she ran in to her old girlfriend, Kait Sommersby juniper_berries Renee had dated Kait in France until Kait had broken it off at the request of her father. Renee started seeing Kait again and she kept that from Deirdre.
30. Eventually, filled with guilt about keeping Renee and Kait's friendship from Deirdre, Pierre let it spill and in the ensuing anger that Deirdre felt, her demonic side finally manifested (most demons have their demonic side manifest at puberty) because it was the first time she felt so utterly out of control since she turned 11.
31. Deirdre's emerging demonic side led her to break up with Renee and kick her out of the house. Deirdre felt like she wasn't in control of her own will anymore. When rage started to take over, she lost herself.
32. Renee tried to do an exorcism because Deirdre was clearly possessed when she broke up with her. Deirdre ended up nearly choking Renee to death. Pierre stopped it and the two escaped, leaving Deirdre to her misery.
33. Deirdre once studied abroad for a few months in Vienna, Austria so, seeking solace, she fled there to get away from the mess she'd made in London.
34. While in Vienna, Deirdre had dreams which told her to go to Melk Abbey, located a riverboat trip up the Danube in Austria. It was there that she met Father Peter Kemp father_Peter on February 5th, 2006. He gave her the advice that she had to see herself as a puppetmaster and not a puppet, which began her struggled to control her demon side.
35. After returning to London, Deirdre kept up correspondence with Father Peter who gave her advice on how to handle herself. It turned out that Peter Kemp had been trying to save demons for years (even though he didn't know what they WERE as he did it) and he felt a kinship with Deirdre he hadn't felt with the others. Deirdre was sweet and cute when she wasn't overcome with rage. He began to view her as a daughter and they became good friends when he eventually relocated to London.
36. In an attempt to get away from her crazy father who had returned to London to seek revenge on Deirdre, Deirdre fled to Renee's house. She sought to explain that she wasn't herself when she'd hurt Renee and Renee wasn't receptive to Deirdre until a sword she had handing over her bed fell and ran Deirdre through. Instead of killing Deirdre, Deirdre healed, thus proving she was immortal and telling the truth.
37. After a failed ritual saw Renee in hospital, she and Deirdre reunited. Once Renee was released from hospital, she moved back in to Victoria Lane, which now housed Deirdre's cousin Evey who had relocated to London, and a boy named Jinx dont_jinx_it who had moved down from Manchester and moved in when Jude moved out.
38. Deirdre's quest to control her demonic side came to a head when she found herself addicted to the souls she could feed off which made her more volatile. Peter locked himself in a room with her at great personal risk because he finally understood that the way to help a demon was through love. She 'detoxed' and even though she very nearly killed Peter, she managed to overcome herself so she could stay the kind, bubbly girl she...mostly is.
39. Because Deirdre made a vow to become more extroverted, yet she remains shy, sometimes she overdoes it. She has a tendency to be very loud where she was once quiet and a bit forceful because it's hard to know where the line is.
40. Deirdre loves people. Surrounding herself with people is her favourite thing. The more the better. She has movie nights where she invites all her friends over and the amount of people living in her home continues to grow.
41. Chance brought Deirdre to her life's passion. She was out walking and she saw a sign advertising tryouts for a local professional theatre's production of Hamlet. Hamlet had long been Deirdre's favourite play and she already knew Ophelia's lines by heart. She auditioned on a whim and the natural charisma she found with lead actor Dorian dorian_the_gray led to her being cast in the role of Ophelia to his Hamlet.
42. In her second to last year at school, Deirdre became less and less interested in classes. They bored her. So she left school and took a high school equivalency exam which she passed with flying colours. She enrolled in University a year early, choosing to take theatre classes because of her newfound passion. Her stage name is Deirdre Rose and she uses that for her musical exploits as well.
43. With her relationship with Pierre patched up, Deirdre and Pierre formed a bad which eventually grew to include Kat Whitney angels_facade on drums and growls, Tamm Morrison twilightrobe on guitar and vocals, Alessa De Compt gonetoground on Bass and backing vocals, Kait on keys and Carla Mannucci caughtinafold on violin. Deirdre and Pierre are the lead vocalists and Deirdre plays flutes while Pierre plays guitar. The band named themselves Ethereal Facade.
44. Ethereal Facade opened for up and coming act Spectre and Sacrifice which included Spectre Mors in_spectre_mors on guitar and Sacrifice sacrificialove on keys. Spectre and Deirdre immediately noted that they were both different, but Spectre was so desperate to hide that fact that he was an angel, that he wasn't open about this with her until much later.
45. Renee suffers from paranoid personality disorder and just after she was released from the hospital, Renee's cousin Tasha empress_tasha misinterpreted Kait, Pierre and Scarlett scarlettvoices Kensington's worry for Renee's wellbeing as an attempt to have Renee committed to get her out of the way. Renee believed Tasha when Tasha told her and Renee turned on her closest friends. Deirdre refused to believe it and she remained close with Kait and Pierre. Through that, Kait and Deirdre developed a friendship they otherwise might not have.
46. Kait's refusal to give up on Renee lead to their relationship being restored before Kait and Pierre's. Through that, Deirdre saw that Renee and Kait were still in love. And while she was in love with Melissa who had shown back up in her life, she didn't want to keep Renee from Kait. While Melissa was not agreeable to a relationship with Deirdre AND Renee, Kait was. And so Renee and Deirdre brought Kait in to their relationship.
47. Renee was taken by a demon who happened to be Slink's best friend 'Sophie'. Everyone else knew her as Josie coldinhergrave , the demon who had escaped from the mental hospital Renee had been in. While Renee was gone, Deirdre and Kait fell in love while they supported each other through their emotions about their missing girlfriend. Finally, Renee was found and saved, restoring her friendship with Pierre and Scarlett but ruining her relationship with Tasha who had caused her all the strife in the first place.
48. Tasha had always been a cruel person who had kindness only for Renee and...rich people mostly. Without Renee, she found herself with only Slink as her friend. Deirdre finally reached out to her because she knew what it was like overcoming something in yourself that caused harm. She explained that Tasha could have actual friends, and not just acquaintances that she kept for prestige. With Slink's help, they managed to get through and Tasha changed into the wonderful person she is today.
49. Caitlin divorced her husband and relocated to London, bringing her son Dylan dylan_patrick with her, while Sean and Erin remained in Dublin with their father. Dylan immediately grew to adore his half-sister because she treated him like an equal. And well she should. Dylan is a wunderkind who can understand concepts that would baffle most adults. He's a genius. He's 11 years old. And he wants to be a knight when he grows up.
50. Deirdre had a recording studio set up in her basement for the band and a darkroom added to the library for Renee and Kait to develop their photos in.
51. Deirdre has two cats, Maeve and Chaucer and a dog, Sylvia thus named because she was the poet Renee read on their first trip to Dante's.
52. Deirdre's hair is shockingly red and her eyes are a very pale blue which sometimes gives her the appearance that she's quite shocked even when she's not. She's 6 feet tall and her legs and arms are quite long so she appears slightly awkward at the best of times.
53. Few people are as clumsy as Deirdre...
54. Deirdre hates fizzy drinks. Despises the things. Unless it's a strawberry champagne cocktail...
55. When Deirdre is drunk, she gets even louder and she has the tendency to talk and act like a pirate. Why? No one knows.
56. While working at the theatre, Deirdre developed a close bond with the theatre's owner, Shawn. He saw such passion for the craft in her that he left the theatre to her when he died. She also owns Dorian's old warehouse loft apartment (and he left her his entire fortune too, BTW which...was a lot and includes a vast empty mansion in Aberdeen she is SO not keen to see since Ry was once held captive there...) and so...at the age of 18, she owns four pieces of property, one of which is a business.
57. Deirdre's partner in the theatre is Dr. David Montgomery whichdoctor who was her theatre professor at London Uni. He was an angel and he not only became Peter's best friend (and then brother-in-law) but one of Deirdre's as well as they saw each other more and more outside class hours. When his angelic spirit was stolen from him, Deirdre was the first person he called. And when he was fired from his job by running off on a quest for revenge, Deirdre hired him as a director. He was later promoted for being a good boy.
58. Deirdre was raped on October 13th, 2006 by her professor under the guise of promising her an independent study. The ensuing battle to get him fired (he had another student lie so he had an alibi) cause the professors to go on strike which closed the uni down for several days. Eventually, Deirdre...losing herself to her demon side briefly, went to the professor's house and entrapped him and then she rang the police. He was then arrested.
59. After seeing the hospital Peter Kemp opened to help demons come to terms with themselves (Many demons end up in institutions under guises like 'rage' and 'schizophrenia' as the supernatural world is not widely known about) Deirdre decided she would be perfect to help because she understands. So she switched her major from theatre to psychology. She already owns a theatre, after all.
60. When the main actress fell pregnant, Deirdre filled in as Velma Kelly in the West End's production of Chicago. She also starred in a few ads on the telly. She is occasionally recognised on the street because of this and...
61. Deirdre's friendship with the now out Spectre, and Spectre's falling out with Sacrifice led Deirdre to volunteer to go on tour with him to protect him. He had already asked her to appear on his next album, and he asked her if she'd like to perform with him as well. Deirdre eagerly agreed and her soulful voice, along with Spectre's amazing talent began to get Deirdre recognition.
62. Right before they embarked on tour, Deirdre walked in on Spectre being raped in his own home by Brian Montgomery dirty_what the brother of David and Aly Kemp ghost_within (Brian is, obviously, Peter's other brother-in-law) She put a stop to it, and took care of Spectre as he came to terms with what had happened. She took care of everything having been there before, even ringing the police so he wouldn't have to.
63. Sometimes Deirdre is called Momma D because of her intensely motherly attitude towards her friends and loved ones.
64. Despite that, Deirdre was terrified of holding babies (or being around anyone younger than 10) until she held Peter's baby. Mostly, she was afraid of breaking them. Demon strength+accident prone=not baby friendly.
65. When she was younger, Deirdre's father used to take her to business meetings with him. He knew his daughter was attractive and the attention she got from older businessmen helped him along. Because of this, Deirdre has never had a problem with feeling ugly. She knows she's beautiful, but she's not vain either thank GOD.
66. Deirdre argues rather vehemently for what she believes in. Even if you don't agree with her, she still respects that someone will argue as vehemently as she will.
67. Deirdre likes the colours pink and purple. Her mobile is purple with jewely buttons. She doesn't think this is weird at all.
68. Every single greeting card Deirdre has ever received is stored in a box in her room with dragonflies on it.
69. Deirdre doesn't really like sweet things much. She mostly makes chocolate things because Renee is a choc-o-holic. She likes sour gummi bears and that's about it.
70. Deirdre is known for wearing odd things. Like her bright orange puffy jacket that clashes with her hair, or bright pink shoes. She thinks it's funny.
71. Renee and Kait now share her room, and Evey and Jinx still live in Vic Lane as well. Tamm has since moved in, as has Joanne Michaels death_to_pavlov
72. Deirdre's favourite TV show is 'Wire in the Blood' and she longs to be a crazy psychologist who gives tips to the Deputy Investigators like Dr Tony Hill does. She also loves Black Books and Whose Line is it Anyway?
73. Deirdre has an unhealthy obsession with Robson Green (who plays Dr. Tony Hill) and if she ever met him she'd probably faint. And then faint again.
74. Victoria Lane is haunted by the ghost of a young man who killed himself there. His name is Dennis and he mostly hides in Deirdre's attic.
75. Deirdre cannot and will never drive. When you have trouble walking down the stairs without falling, it makes handling a car seem quite dangerous.
76. Even though she can't drive, Deirdre isn't bothered. That is because Deirdre has an irrational love of taxis. She is unable to explain this, but riding in a taxi is a thrill all to itself for her.
77. Deirdre has visited Austria, obviously, but she's also been to New York in the US with Jude and she's visited Cape Town, South Africa to see her friend Emily emily_robin she's been to Germany and Scotland as well as travelling around England with Spectre.
78. Deirdre can speak German and read Old English (Anglo-Saxon) and Latin. Her favourite thing to read (besides Hamlet..) is actually in Middle English and it's Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Hence the name of her cat.
79. Liam has come back in to Deirdre's life because the demonic spirit he used to have has left him. He's much calmer now and he's trying to make up for his past mistakes. There are a lot of those to atone for...
80. Deirdre might be with two women, but she is not a lesbian. She is bisexual. Though the chances of her ever being with a man again are highly diminished because of the rape she experienced (And her girls) she still finds men attractive. Namely Peter's best friend Thomas suave_thomas
81. Deirdre would eat pineapple all day. Pineapple candies are another sweet thing she'll eat. She loves it.
82. Deirdre's specialty in the kitchen are stir-frys. She is the self-appointed Queen of the Wok.
83. Terrible things have happened both times she was supposed to see one of her favourite bands in concert, Lacuna Coil. The first time was that Peter and his children were taken by another demon and the second was her rape. Now she's terrified to ever buy Lacuna Coil tickets ever again, though she still listens to them.
84. Deirdre loves Nightwish, Clannad, Epica and Within Temptation as well as Spectre. She had dreams of applying to become Nightwish's new vocalist...
85. When Melissa was tragically killed, Deirdre was heartbroken and when Spectre's tour brought her to Nottingham, Deirdre had a hard time there. She did, however, visit Melissa's father and that brought her a little peace.
86. The warehouse loft apartment that was given to Deirdre by Dorian is now the residence of Deirdre's bandmates Alessa and Kat as well as her friends Kali Vogel zephryian and Ethan Sunderland breaks_the_fall and Kat and Ethan's twin daughters Bianca and Zoe. They too, live in Deirdre's residence rent free.
87. The ghost of Shawn still resides in the theatre and Deirdre leaves him donuts backstage because they were Shawn's favourite when he was alive.
88. Deirdre is terrified of spiders, but Peter is more terrified of them. A fact she finds endlessly funny.
89. Because of her mother's rather...promiscuous life before she met her current fiance, Deirdre is terrified people will think she's easy. She really isn't. She's been with three people in her life (four but she doesn't count the rape) and one of those only lasted one night. She is very defensive about her relationship with Renee and Kait if people insinuate she must be a sexual deviant because she loves two women at the same time.
90. Deirdre loves snakes. She wants one, but she's afraid it would eat Maeve as Maeve is the world's smallest adult cat. No really. She's the size of a kitten where as Chaucer is huge and quite bigger than the small cocker spaniels Deirdre used to have.
91. Deirdre has an ongoing rivalry with Evanna's evil cat, Salem. So far, Salem is winning. Deirdre hates that cat.
92. If Deirdre could have any car in the world besides a taxi, she'd have a pink beetle. She just wouldn't drive it.
93. Deirdre has appeared in magazines and galleries all over the UK because of her mother's photographs, but she isn't generally named. Evanna, Renee and probably Kait and Amanda ladyofthere and Isabelle bringthefire (Who accompanied Caitlin on a trip to Spain once) have appeared in them as well.
94. Deirdre sang at Peter's wedding and then later, during the reception, Ethereal Facade played. The wedding was held at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, so she, as an actress, says she's 'played the Globe'.
95. Once, Deirdre and Thomas fashioned cardboard bat ears for themselves and they wore capes and they went to a shopping centre as BatThomas and BatDeirdre, communicating with each other by talking in to cardboard 'signal watches'. The went into a toystore where the people were doing an instore costume appearance dressed as Teletubbies. Deirdre accidently tripped and fell in to one which caused the teletubby to chase them both from the centre. Deirdre still thinks that was the most surreal experience of her life and probably with good reason.... You can read about it here And she wrote about it here
96. Deirdre has a sleeping bag with a My Little Pony on it and she calls it Glitterbutt Pony Bag...she loves that thing.
97. Once, Deirdre wrote a journal entry that said "KEBABS HATE ME AND EVERYTHING IS ALL FUCKED UP YAAARRRGGGG!" And I still don't know why... It's located here
98. Deirdre wrote an 'Ode to O'Doherty' (the man who raped her) entitled 'Burn in hell you arsehole scummuffin' and it is located here
99. Deirdre roleplays in a group online with her friends called darkermelbourne She plays a character there called mother_peter who is ever so slightly based on Father Peter. Except...she's a nun. And she looks like this Please note, that icon is totally my highest achievement to date...;)
100. Deirdre used to make her cousins call her Desdemona, and Evanna still calls her 'Desi' to this day. Much to Deirdre's dismay!!

3. Deirdre's mother's name is Caitlin. She was born Caitlin Kelley, became Caitlin Gallagher. She has since married and divorced again. She is now Caitlin O'Connor. Because she is a well known photographer, she will keep his as her professional name after she marries Finian O'Flaherty in September, 2007 but she plans to take his name personally.
4. Deirdre's father's name is Liam. He was a power-hungry business man who was so hell-bent on dominating other people that he picked himself up a demonic spirit along the way, while he and Caitlin were dating. Because of this, Deirdre was born a demon.
5. Liam's increasingly stifling personality caused free-spirited Caitlin to leave the family when Deirdre was just 5. Deirdre was left to be raised by a largely absent Liam.
6. Liam has an older sister, Marilyn. Deirdre spent a lot of her younger days on Marilyn's farm with her cousins Evanna Reeves lady_evanna and Duncan Reeves. They even spent time with the children from the next farm over, owned by Angel and Lou Rivers who fostered several children including lee_rivers and occasionally helequin
7. During her relationship with Liam, Caitlin had made good friends with Marilyn. After she left her family, she maintained this friendship though she was careful to stay away when Deirdre was visiting. Because of this, Evanna and Duncan saw more of Deirdre's mother than she did, and by extension, they spent more time with her half siblings as well, even though they were not related to them.
8. When Deirdre was 11, Liam got a job offer from a firm in London. He relocated to a house in Eltham and Deirdre felt lost without her best friend and cousin, Evanna. Deirdre had always been introverted while Evanna was a classic extrovert. This made it hard for Deirdre to make friends at first, but she eventually bonded with a girl named Melissa Asher littlesoulbird and a boy named Michael Blake keep_me_silent
9. Without her Aunt Marilyn to look out for her, Deirdre was left largely alone in her house when she wasn't at school. Liam was increasingly absent and even when he was at home, he closed himself in his office and spent virtually no time with his daughter. Even the time Deirdre spent at Melissa or Michael's house wasn't enough to make up for the loss of Aunt Marilyn. Deirdre learned to be quite self-sufficient in taking care of herself because she had no other choice.
10. Because Deirdre learned to be independent at the age of 11, she is a fantastic cook. She can make, literally anything. And not only that, but she can make the most mundane things taste like gourmet meals.
11. Deirdre doesn't only cook, she cleans. In fact, she fired their maid when she was 14 because Deirdre was better at keeping the house spotless. Deirdre not only cleans, she likes to clean. She enjoys doing dishes. Deirdre is weird.
12. Because of the way Deirdre grew up, she has various control issues. She never felt parental love and the one thing she could do was keep the house spotless for her father. She still sought his approval for everything. She maintained straight A's in all of her classes to impress him. Because of her intense desire for control, she probably found it easier to overcome her demon side once it manifested.
13. When Deirdre was around the age of 16, she realised she was beginning to like Melissa as more than just a friend. She even kissed her, which caused Melissa to become quite scared. Melissa left London to go live with her father in Nottingham and Deirdre turned to Michael for comfort. They slept together which was the first time Deirdre had ever had sex. When he wanted a relationship and she didn't, Deirdre found she had lost both of her best friends. Over a kiss.
14. As luck would have it, Liam had purchased a rather large pair of flats across the street from Regents Park a few years before and he had spent lots of money having them renovated in to one very large and opulent house. It was twice the size of the house in Eltham and a few weeks after Melissa fled to Nottingham, Liam and Deirdre moved into the new house.
15. Deirdre started attending a private school called London College which was nearby. She made a vow to herself before she started, that she would be more open to people, instead of being the shy wallflower she had been before. She was going to be proactive instead of reactive. And instead of chickening out, she actually did.
16. Deirdre met a few people when she transferred into her new school, but none of note until she met Renee Baudrillard seminalsemiotic. Renee had transferred from Paris the previous year but she spoke English better than most of the English students. She wore sexy boots at lunch because she could get away with breaking the dress code then. And she spent time in the library for fun. Just like Deirdre. Deirdre developed a crush immediately.
17. Renee and Deirdre became fast friends because neither of them had met anyone else that understood them as well as they did each other. They both had acquaintances, but not friends. And so they bonded. And then one night Renee invited Deirdre over for dinner, planning on seducing her. But Deirdre made the first move, kissing Renee first even though she was terrified because of what happened with Melissa. This time, it paid off.
18. Deirdre and Renee spent a lot of time going to Dante's poetry bar where Renee would do readings. The first time they went there, Renee read Sylvia Plath and she wore a red kimono. Deirdre ordered a latte and Renee had absinthe. Deirdre remembers it like it was yesterday.
19. Deirdre's relationship with Renee strengthened Deirdre's resolve and she started standing up to her father. The demon in her father didn't like being challenged so one night he hit Deirdre with his briefcase, knocking her into a wall. He hit her in the face as well, and she fled to a nearby friend's house and stayed with him. Worried that any official charges would harm his reputation, Liam accepted a transfer to the US and he signed the house over to Deirdre as a bribe to keep her quiet. She accepted.
20. Deirdre became legally emancipated from her father at the age of 16 and the house was officially under her name. Because she had never had a family, she asked her friends to move in with her, rent-free. She wanted to be surrounded by people. To this day, 211-213 Victoria Lane remains a refuge for people to live in rent-free or stay in if they need a place.
21. When Deirdre was about 14, Caitlin began to make a name for herself in photography. She had remarried and had 3 more children (Erin, Sean and Dylan) and once she started becoming well known, she went to London for gallery openings. When she was in town, she visited her daughter who hadn't seen her since she was 5. They started to bond a little, but Deirdre still called her 'Caitlin' instead of 'mam'. It was on one such bonding trip, that Caitlin bought Deirdre her tattoo. It's a small claddaugh symbol on the small of her back. She also has a pierced tongue (it vibrates!) and a naughty piercing that you don't get to see!
22. When Deirdre's father moved to the US and Renee moved in with Deirdre, Caitlin made an effort to become closer with her daughter. She immediately bonded with Renee over their shared love for photography and their similarly open mannerisms. Deirdre was mostly just mortified that her mother insisted on calling her 'Didi'.
23. After her father left, Deirdre sank into a depression, which didn't actually have anything to do with him. She stopped eating and she slept all the time. She even failed to turn in an essay, something Deirdre never did as she usually had them finished the day they were assigned. A housemate found her unconscious on the floor and he had her committed...without telling Renee. Or Deirdre. In fact he didn't tell Renee until the next day. This ended their friendship and severely damaged his bond with Deirdre. It did, however, see Deirdre's recovery.
24. In the midst of therapy, Deirdre let slip that her father abused her. As is required by law, the therapist informed the police and it went on record. Liam was fired from his job. He was Not Happy.
25. Once Deirdre was released from the clinic, she began modelling clothes for a fashion class at London University on the advice from a friend that she'd make a good model. Her work there saw her getting other modelling jobs where she met fellow model Jude McKenna firehaunted
26. Deirdre started bonding with several others as well, forming the base of her new friendship group. Jude, Stephanie 'Slink' Marsh slinkster_ghoul and Ry Chambers epithet_ (Who had been an acquaintance of Renee's before they became closer) chief amoung them. Ry, Jude and Stephie eventually moved in to Victoria Lane, as well as Renee's childhood best friend Pierre Beaudreaux eligible_boy who had moved from Paris and needed a place to stay.
27. Deirdre and Renee spent their friend Christmas with Deirdre making Renee a traditional English meal. Renee loved all of it. Except the pudding...
28. Caitlin came to visit for Christmas as well, and she gave Renee an old camera which had been restored. She used to use it and she was passing it on. Deirdre got a sweater. She wasn't pleased.
29. Shortly after the new year in 2006, Renee was walking to work when she ran in to her old girlfriend, Kait Sommersby juniper_berries Renee had dated Kait in France until Kait had broken it off at the request of her father. Renee started seeing Kait again and she kept that from Deirdre.
30. Eventually, filled with guilt about keeping Renee and Kait's friendship from Deirdre, Pierre let it spill and in the ensuing anger that Deirdre felt, her demonic side finally manifested (most demons have their demonic side manifest at puberty) because it was the first time she felt so utterly out of control since she turned 11.
31. Deirdre's emerging demonic side led her to break up with Renee and kick her out of the house. Deirdre felt like she wasn't in control of her own will anymore. When rage started to take over, she lost herself.
32. Renee tried to do an exorcism because Deirdre was clearly possessed when she broke up with her. Deirdre ended up nearly choking Renee to death. Pierre stopped it and the two escaped, leaving Deirdre to her misery.
33. Deirdre once studied abroad for a few months in Vienna, Austria so, seeking solace, she fled there to get away from the mess she'd made in London.
34. While in Vienna, Deirdre had dreams which told her to go to Melk Abbey, located a riverboat trip up the Danube in Austria. It was there that she met Father Peter Kemp father_Peter on February 5th, 2006. He gave her the advice that she had to see herself as a puppetmaster and not a puppet, which began her struggled to control her demon side.
35. After returning to London, Deirdre kept up correspondence with Father Peter who gave her advice on how to handle herself. It turned out that Peter Kemp had been trying to save demons for years (even though he didn't know what they WERE as he did it) and he felt a kinship with Deirdre he hadn't felt with the others. Deirdre was sweet and cute when she wasn't overcome with rage. He began to view her as a daughter and they became good friends when he eventually relocated to London.
36. In an attempt to get away from her crazy father who had returned to London to seek revenge on Deirdre, Deirdre fled to Renee's house. She sought to explain that she wasn't herself when she'd hurt Renee and Renee wasn't receptive to Deirdre until a sword she had handing over her bed fell and ran Deirdre through. Instead of killing Deirdre, Deirdre healed, thus proving she was immortal and telling the truth.
37. After a failed ritual saw Renee in hospital, she and Deirdre reunited. Once Renee was released from hospital, she moved back in to Victoria Lane, which now housed Deirdre's cousin Evey who had relocated to London, and a boy named Jinx dont_jinx_it who had moved down from Manchester and moved in when Jude moved out.
38. Deirdre's quest to control her demonic side came to a head when she found herself addicted to the souls she could feed off which made her more volatile. Peter locked himself in a room with her at great personal risk because he finally understood that the way to help a demon was through love. She 'detoxed' and even though she very nearly killed Peter, she managed to overcome herself so she could stay the kind, bubbly girl she...mostly is.
39. Because Deirdre made a vow to become more extroverted, yet she remains shy, sometimes she overdoes it. She has a tendency to be very loud where she was once quiet and a bit forceful because it's hard to know where the line is.
40. Deirdre loves people. Surrounding herself with people is her favourite thing. The more the better. She has movie nights where she invites all her friends over and the amount of people living in her home continues to grow.
41. Chance brought Deirdre to her life's passion. She was out walking and she saw a sign advertising tryouts for a local professional theatre's production of Hamlet. Hamlet had long been Deirdre's favourite play and she already knew Ophelia's lines by heart. She auditioned on a whim and the natural charisma she found with lead actor Dorian dorian_the_gray led to her being cast in the role of Ophelia to his Hamlet.
42. In her second to last year at school, Deirdre became less and less interested in classes. They bored her. So she left school and took a high school equivalency exam which she passed with flying colours. She enrolled in University a year early, choosing to take theatre classes because of her newfound passion. Her stage name is Deirdre Rose and she uses that for her musical exploits as well.
43. With her relationship with Pierre patched up, Deirdre and Pierre formed a bad which eventually grew to include Kat Whitney angels_facade on drums and growls, Tamm Morrison twilightrobe on guitar and vocals, Alessa De Compt gonetoground on Bass and backing vocals, Kait on keys and Carla Mannucci caughtinafold on violin. Deirdre and Pierre are the lead vocalists and Deirdre plays flutes while Pierre plays guitar. The band named themselves Ethereal Facade.
44. Ethereal Facade opened for up and coming act Spectre and Sacrifice which included Spectre Mors in_spectre_mors on guitar and Sacrifice sacrificialove on keys. Spectre and Deirdre immediately noted that they were both different, but Spectre was so desperate to hide that fact that he was an angel, that he wasn't open about this with her until much later.
45. Renee suffers from paranoid personality disorder and just after she was released from the hospital, Renee's cousin Tasha empress_tasha misinterpreted Kait, Pierre and Scarlett scarlettvoices Kensington's worry for Renee's wellbeing as an attempt to have Renee committed to get her out of the way. Renee believed Tasha when Tasha told her and Renee turned on her closest friends. Deirdre refused to believe it and she remained close with Kait and Pierre. Through that, Kait and Deirdre developed a friendship they otherwise might not have.
46. Kait's refusal to give up on Renee lead to their relationship being restored before Kait and Pierre's. Through that, Deirdre saw that Renee and Kait were still in love. And while she was in love with Melissa who had shown back up in her life, she didn't want to keep Renee from Kait. While Melissa was not agreeable to a relationship with Deirdre AND Renee, Kait was. And so Renee and Deirdre brought Kait in to their relationship.
47. Renee was taken by a demon who happened to be Slink's best friend 'Sophie'. Everyone else knew her as Josie coldinhergrave , the demon who had escaped from the mental hospital Renee had been in. While Renee was gone, Deirdre and Kait fell in love while they supported each other through their emotions about their missing girlfriend. Finally, Renee was found and saved, restoring her friendship with Pierre and Scarlett but ruining her relationship with Tasha who had caused her all the strife in the first place.
48. Tasha had always been a cruel person who had kindness only for Renee and...rich people mostly. Without Renee, she found herself with only Slink as her friend. Deirdre finally reached out to her because she knew what it was like overcoming something in yourself that caused harm. She explained that Tasha could have actual friends, and not just acquaintances that she kept for prestige. With Slink's help, they managed to get through and Tasha changed into the wonderful person she is today.
49. Caitlin divorced her husband and relocated to London, bringing her son Dylan dylan_patrick with her, while Sean and Erin remained in Dublin with their father. Dylan immediately grew to adore his half-sister because she treated him like an equal. And well she should. Dylan is a wunderkind who can understand concepts that would baffle most adults. He's a genius. He's 11 years old. And he wants to be a knight when he grows up.
50. Deirdre had a recording studio set up in her basement for the band and a darkroom added to the library for Renee and Kait to develop their photos in.
51. Deirdre has two cats, Maeve and Chaucer and a dog, Sylvia thus named because she was the poet Renee read on their first trip to Dante's.
52. Deirdre's hair is shockingly red and her eyes are a very pale blue which sometimes gives her the appearance that she's quite shocked even when she's not. She's 6 feet tall and her legs and arms are quite long so she appears slightly awkward at the best of times.
53. Few people are as clumsy as Deirdre...
54. Deirdre hates fizzy drinks. Despises the things. Unless it's a strawberry champagne cocktail...
55. When Deirdre is drunk, she gets even louder and she has the tendency to talk and act like a pirate. Why? No one knows.
56. While working at the theatre, Deirdre developed a close bond with the theatre's owner, Shawn. He saw such passion for the craft in her that he left the theatre to her when he died. She also owns Dorian's old warehouse loft apartment (and he left her his entire fortune too, BTW which...was a lot and includes a vast empty mansion in Aberdeen she is SO not keen to see since Ry was once held captive there...) and so...at the age of 18, she owns four pieces of property, one of which is a business.
57. Deirdre's partner in the theatre is Dr. David Montgomery whichdoctor who was her theatre professor at London Uni. He was an angel and he not only became Peter's best friend (and then brother-in-law) but one of Deirdre's as well as they saw each other more and more outside class hours. When his angelic spirit was stolen from him, Deirdre was the first person he called. And when he was fired from his job by running off on a quest for revenge, Deirdre hired him as a director. He was later promoted for being a good boy.
58. Deirdre was raped on October 13th, 2006 by her professor under the guise of promising her an independent study. The ensuing battle to get him fired (he had another student lie so he had an alibi) cause the professors to go on strike which closed the uni down for several days. Eventually, Deirdre...losing herself to her demon side briefly, went to the professor's house and entrapped him and then she rang the police. He was then arrested.
59. After seeing the hospital Peter Kemp opened to help demons come to terms with themselves (Many demons end up in institutions under guises like 'rage' and 'schizophrenia' as the supernatural world is not widely known about) Deirdre decided she would be perfect to help because she understands. So she switched her major from theatre to psychology. She already owns a theatre, after all.
60. When the main actress fell pregnant, Deirdre filled in as Velma Kelly in the West End's production of Chicago. She also starred in a few ads on the telly. She is occasionally recognised on the street because of this and...
61. Deirdre's friendship with the now out Spectre, and Spectre's falling out with Sacrifice led Deirdre to volunteer to go on tour with him to protect him. He had already asked her to appear on his next album, and he asked her if she'd like to perform with him as well. Deirdre eagerly agreed and her soulful voice, along with Spectre's amazing talent began to get Deirdre recognition.
62. Right before they embarked on tour, Deirdre walked in on Spectre being raped in his own home by Brian Montgomery dirty_what the brother of David and Aly Kemp ghost_within (Brian is, obviously, Peter's other brother-in-law) She put a stop to it, and took care of Spectre as he came to terms with what had happened. She took care of everything having been there before, even ringing the police so he wouldn't have to.
63. Sometimes Deirdre is called Momma D because of her intensely motherly attitude towards her friends and loved ones.
64. Despite that, Deirdre was terrified of holding babies (or being around anyone younger than 10) until she held Peter's baby. Mostly, she was afraid of breaking them. Demon strength+accident prone=not baby friendly.
65. When she was younger, Deirdre's father used to take her to business meetings with him. He knew his daughter was attractive and the attention she got from older businessmen helped him along. Because of this, Deirdre has never had a problem with feeling ugly. She knows she's beautiful, but she's not vain either thank GOD.
66. Deirdre argues rather vehemently for what she believes in. Even if you don't agree with her, she still respects that someone will argue as vehemently as she will.
67. Deirdre likes the colours pink and purple. Her mobile is purple with jewely buttons. She doesn't think this is weird at all.
68. Every single greeting card Deirdre has ever received is stored in a box in her room with dragonflies on it.
69. Deirdre doesn't really like sweet things much. She mostly makes chocolate things because Renee is a choc-o-holic. She likes sour gummi bears and that's about it.
70. Deirdre is known for wearing odd things. Like her bright orange puffy jacket that clashes with her hair, or bright pink shoes. She thinks it's funny.
71. Renee and Kait now share her room, and Evey and Jinx still live in Vic Lane as well. Tamm has since moved in, as has Joanne Michaels death_to_pavlov
72. Deirdre's favourite TV show is 'Wire in the Blood' and she longs to be a crazy psychologist who gives tips to the Deputy Investigators like Dr Tony Hill does. She also loves Black Books and Whose Line is it Anyway?
73. Deirdre has an unhealthy obsession with Robson Green (who plays Dr. Tony Hill) and if she ever met him she'd probably faint. And then faint again.
74. Victoria Lane is haunted by the ghost of a young man who killed himself there. His name is Dennis and he mostly hides in Deirdre's attic.
75. Deirdre cannot and will never drive. When you have trouble walking down the stairs without falling, it makes handling a car seem quite dangerous.
76. Even though she can't drive, Deirdre isn't bothered. That is because Deirdre has an irrational love of taxis. She is unable to explain this, but riding in a taxi is a thrill all to itself for her.
77. Deirdre has visited Austria, obviously, but she's also been to New York in the US with Jude and she's visited Cape Town, South Africa to see her friend Emily emily_robin she's been to Germany and Scotland as well as travelling around England with Spectre.
78. Deirdre can speak German and read Old English (Anglo-Saxon) and Latin. Her favourite thing to read (besides Hamlet..) is actually in Middle English and it's Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Hence the name of her cat.
79. Liam has come back in to Deirdre's life because the demonic spirit he used to have has left him. He's much calmer now and he's trying to make up for his past mistakes. There are a lot of those to atone for...
80. Deirdre might be with two women, but she is not a lesbian. She is bisexual. Though the chances of her ever being with a man again are highly diminished because of the rape she experienced (And her girls) she still finds men attractive. Namely Peter's best friend Thomas suave_thomas
81. Deirdre would eat pineapple all day. Pineapple candies are another sweet thing she'll eat. She loves it.
82. Deirdre's specialty in the kitchen are stir-frys. She is the self-appointed Queen of the Wok.
83. Terrible things have happened both times she was supposed to see one of her favourite bands in concert, Lacuna Coil. The first time was that Peter and his children were taken by another demon and the second was her rape. Now she's terrified to ever buy Lacuna Coil tickets ever again, though she still listens to them.
84. Deirdre loves Nightwish, Clannad, Epica and Within Temptation as well as Spectre. She had dreams of applying to become Nightwish's new vocalist...
85. When Melissa was tragically killed, Deirdre was heartbroken and when Spectre's tour brought her to Nottingham, Deirdre had a hard time there. She did, however, visit Melissa's father and that brought her a little peace.
86. The warehouse loft apartment that was given to Deirdre by Dorian is now the residence of Deirdre's bandmates Alessa and Kat as well as her friends Kali Vogel zephryian and Ethan Sunderland breaks_the_fall and Kat and Ethan's twin daughters Bianca and Zoe. They too, live in Deirdre's residence rent free.
87. The ghost of Shawn still resides in the theatre and Deirdre leaves him donuts backstage because they were Shawn's favourite when he was alive.
88. Deirdre is terrified of spiders, but Peter is more terrified of them. A fact she finds endlessly funny.
89. Because of her mother's rather...promiscuous life before she met her current fiance, Deirdre is terrified people will think she's easy. She really isn't. She's been with three people in her life (four but she doesn't count the rape) and one of those only lasted one night. She is very defensive about her relationship with Renee and Kait if people insinuate she must be a sexual deviant because she loves two women at the same time.
90. Deirdre loves snakes. She wants one, but she's afraid it would eat Maeve as Maeve is the world's smallest adult cat. No really. She's the size of a kitten where as Chaucer is huge and quite bigger than the small cocker spaniels Deirdre used to have.
91. Deirdre has an ongoing rivalry with Evanna's evil cat, Salem. So far, Salem is winning. Deirdre hates that cat.
92. If Deirdre could have any car in the world besides a taxi, she'd have a pink beetle. She just wouldn't drive it.
93. Deirdre has appeared in magazines and galleries all over the UK because of her mother's photographs, but she isn't generally named. Evanna, Renee and probably Kait and Amanda ladyofthere and Isabelle bringthefire (Who accompanied Caitlin on a trip to Spain once) have appeared in them as well.
94. Deirdre sang at Peter's wedding and then later, during the reception, Ethereal Facade played. The wedding was held at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, so she, as an actress, says she's 'played the Globe'.
95. Once, Deirdre and Thomas fashioned cardboard bat ears for themselves and they wore capes and they went to a shopping centre as BatThomas and BatDeirdre, communicating with each other by talking in to cardboard 'signal watches'. The went into a toystore where the people were doing an instore costume appearance dressed as Teletubbies. Deirdre accidently tripped and fell in to one which caused the teletubby to chase them both from the centre. 96. Deirdre has a sleeping bag with a My Little Pony on it and she calls it Glitterbutt Pony Bag...she loves that thing.
97. Once, Deirdre wrote a journal entry that said "KEBABS HATE ME AND EVERYTHING IS ALL FUCKED UP YAAARRRGGGG!" And I still don't know why... It's located here
98. Deirdre wrote an 'Ode to O'Doherty' (the man who raped her) entitled 'Burn in hell you arsehole scummuffin' and it is located here
99. Deirdre roleplays in a group online with her friends called darkermelbourne She plays a character there called mother_peter who is ever so slightly based on Father Peter. Except...she's a nun. And she looks like this Please note, that icon is totally my highest achievement to date...;)
100. Deirdre used to make her cousins call her Desdemona, and Evanna still calls her 'Desi' to this day. Much to Deirdre's dismay!!
