To obey this law because I cannot tolerate your violation of it, while breaking that law because I cannot be bothered with the effort to deny my own inclinations -- this is what makes my otherwise-righteousness filthy. Only grace allows us to live in the humble awareness of our own imperfection while calling others into account for theirs. The consistent tension pushes us, inevitably, toward (w)holiness. This is the scandal of grace.
