[Light appears to be sitting at a bench indoors somewhere as the video feed turns on; he must have found some shelter given the chilly weather outside.] Well, it's about time I gave this a try... [He glances around a bit awkwardly at first, before clearing his throat to speak up.]

To anyone who's watching this, I'm Light Yagami, and I suppose you ( Read more... )

[... huh.]

No, no. I get what you mean, and you have valid point. As far as I know, the only proof that details existence is the proof that details your own existence -- senses deceive, and all that's solid melts into air. I admit -- you could very well be just an elaborate figment of my imagination, and vice-versa. If you think about it, it's the logical conclusion.

But that's under the assumption that this is a dream, isn't it? I mean, what if we reverse the premise a little? You are now actually just waking up into 'reality', and whatever 'world' you 'came' from is actually just a figment of your imagination. The actual dream. Whatever sensations and events that you've experienced in your 'real world', people you met and so on and so forth, are actually just about as real of a dream as you may perceive this one to be.

Under that premise, we can explain that the people around you are also waking up from their own elaborate dreams unto this 'reality' -- which is why they're also just about as confused as you are. And as weird and unrealistic as the natural laws of this world probably seems to you, that's just in comparison to the laws that you perceive as normal from your 'dream', right? It might seem fantastical, but it's also plausible that this is the reality you'll have to face upon waking.

So it's not so much as that you've been sucked into a fantasy world. Rather, you're waking up unto a real one. Heh, how much sense does this make?

Heh, that's where it starts getting a bit tricky... I suppose in a sense, the mere fact that we're even experiencing such a fantastical reality causes us to question everything we've ever known and been told... but when that happens, even our fundamental logic and reasoning start to fall apart on us, and we're left without a single thing to confirm or deny anything either way, not even with our common sense.

It makes you wonder if there's even any more point to trying to figure any of this out... especially given the scenario you just proposed.

That's exactly it, though. With what I just proposed, there really isn't a point in figuring out the exact nature of this world, beyond what you want for academic purposes.

Regardless of the nature of this place or the place you supposedly 'came' from, the fact is that you used to be in a different place elsewhere, and now you are not. And depending on whether you like it here or not, you'll either be looking for a way back to whatever place you came from, or attempting to ensure a permanent residence here.

Whatever floats your boat.
