Truth

It all happened so fast, one moment she was running for her life, the next crashing into Jono and Bobby. Two guys she had never met face to face and yet who she knew she could trust, they were both worried and only had seconds to speak before he was there.

Threshold.

The second he touched down on the ground she understood her dreams, they had been warnings. This was what had been chasing her, trying to kill her. All those nights she had woke up, screaming and drenched in sweat. And now she was face to face with him, his sick smug smile, and his glowing eye. She had baited him before, laughing at him, calling him names, and now.....
Now she couldn't think of a single thing to say.

Luckily she didn't have to, Jono and Bobby shoved her aside and tried to help. But Threshold had made quick work of them, then he was on her. Hitting her, kicking her, tearing her mind apart. She could hear herself screaming, her body crumpling to the ground as he tourtured her, and she blindly cried out for help.

And miraculously it arrived.

He wasn't quite a knight in shining armor, more like a skeezy werewolf who would probably eat his white horse, but he had been there just the same. Jumping onto Thresholds back, fighting him off for her.

They all had thrown themselves into danger.
Jono.
Bobby.
Michael.

All three of them had arrived to help her, to save her.
A girl who no one had ever cared about before.

Relief flooded her system as Threshold let go of her mind, and she staggered back onto her feet, staring at the mess around her. Bobby was trying to help Jono, whose eyes were rolled back in his head and blackish blood was seeping out from his nose. Michael meanwhile was howling in pain as Threshold broke his arm.

"No." Roxy said and made herself stand up straight, anger slowly building inside her. Her whole life she had thought she hadn't mattered, that she was trash. That no one had cared.
But they did.

Her mother.
Jono.
Bobby.
Michael.

She wouldn't let them be hurt, not when she was still standing. Not when she had some fight left in her.
She would not roll over and die.

Especially to a one eyed prick who had mommy issues.

"You leave him ALONE!!" She screamed and lashed out, no idea how or what she was doing, just knowing and trusting that she could beat him. And then suddenly a force inside her was rising up, her fury so intense that she almost seemed to float on it. Threshold had a second to look at her before he was pushed down, and that force inside her pulsed. Making him rise and then fall again.

"You sick twisted FUCK!" She yelled at him, pushing at that force with all her might. "You ever touch them again and I will KILL you."

There was a sickening snap and she felt her rage subside. And with it, that strange force. She tumbled to the ground, surprised and confused. Had she really been floating?

But then Bobby was there, pulling her up again. Jono was leaning against him but seemed all right and he gave her a little nod.

*Nice one Rox.*

She turned to look at what she had done but Bobby had shook his head, pulling her with him as he hobbled towards Michael. "Don't look. He's down, let's leave it at that. Let's get Michael and get the fuck out of here before more of those guys in black leather suits come."

"I....." She started to say and Jono looked up at her, his brown eyes clear and warm.

*You saved us.*

"I did?"

*Yeah, that wasn't supposed to be how it worked but this is better.*

She gave him a curious look and he shrugged, the corners of his scarred face pulling up into what she thought was a smile.

*Cute girls who are badass are much hotter than plain old heros.*
