I was driving home from class this morning when I spotted an elderly man with a white cane on the corner waiting to use the intersection on eighth street right next to Boise High. I stopped rather abruptly to let the man cross, and then wondered if he knew I was waiting for him. He did, apparently. He took off at a chipper trot across the street. Once he crossed in front of my car he raised his hand and tipped his hat to me.
I, reacting as I would normally, offered a friendly wave back to the blind man.
I then proceeded to feel really, very stupid and laughed at myself the entire way home.
