The family came back from Montana today, and so we went out for a family night and invited Nana along. We went to see Kung Fu Panda (... again, for me. But mom, dad and N had never seen it. And if it was not worth going back for the movie itself, it was totally worth going to see Erinn and Dads' thunderously hilarious reactions to it. Priceless.), and then went out to dinner at the only place we thought would be open at ten o'clock -- the cheesecake factory.
woot.
The night was extremely entertaining -- mainly thanks to Erinn being in a giggly mood and Dad being more than willing to fuel the fire... Example:
N: "Jimmy cracked corn and I don't care, Jimmy cracked corn and I don't --" I don't get it. Nana, why am I sopposed to care that Jimmy cracked corn?
Nana: *giggles, for she, like the rest of us, has no idea why Erinn started singing this song in the first place* I don't know, dear.
N: Dad?
Dad: *nods his head with a completely solemn face*
Me: *tries to muffle a burst of laughter. This will be good*
Dad: It's actually a common misconception -- it's not "Jimmy cracked corn", it's "Jimmy's a crack whore and I don't care."
etc etc, so on and so forth.
The highlight of the night, however, was when Nana less than delicately pointed out that the waiter was flirting with me. I didn't believe her -- I thought he was just being nice. But then when he came back, it appeared that she was right.
That never happened before. Random stranger? Flirting -- with me?
No doubt he was just a choir boy at a younger age, and therefore had no other way of acting toward people of the opposite sex around his age. But still. It made me feel... kind of special.
I dunno. Things like that don't happen very often, especially for someone who looks like I do.
Ah well. At least I got a side of raspberry puree with my cake that he "snuck out of the kitchen for me."
:)
