Pregnancy Pains

Jan 18, 2007 17:37

It's the end of my second trimester and it's as if my whole body is retaliating against me. I guess the honeymoon stage of pregnancy is truly over now. Besides the arm and leg cramps that wake me up at night, the whole right side of my body feels as though it is on fire. Why hasn't anyone told me about round ligament pain before? It is excruciating! This might be the cause of Andres having to rush me to the hospital on Monday night. I was there for four hours and during that time also kept having some minor contractions. They ran several (painful) tests on me, one of which required the nurse to put a catheter in me (not fun AT ALL), but all of the tests came back negative. The only thing they could tell me was that my ligaments were stretching and I was a little dehydrated and then I was sent home. After having those contractions on Monday night, I began to question my stance on having an epidural. I've thought about trying to do the natural birth thing, but I was only having mild contractions and they were extremely uncomfortable and some were even painful. I can only imagine what real contractions feel like and to be honest, I think I'd rather not know. The things that the body goes through in order to give life to a tiny little human being! When I sit and think about it, it really is amazing - to know that he's growing more and more and that's the reason why I'm having these pains - but I'm hoping these next three 1/2 months go by quickly. I want him here already!
