Short notice doesn't mean a thing. Just go talk to the professor if that's what you want to do.

[What's up with people and saying that short notice isn't problematic?]

O-Okay. I just didn't want to cause problems... I-I'm sure the professors have a lot to do and joining like this could be a bother for them, with paperwork or something.

Doesn't hurt to ask, kid. If you want to do it, speak up.

I su-suppose it doesn't hurt. Thanks... Do you go to the school or work there?

Nah, it's not my thing. I graduated my academy long ago, back home.

An academy? H-How was it? M-My mother wanted me to go to an academy but the one she wanted for me was too far and she didn't want me to live alone there.

Just like any other school. [Except with, you know, ninja.] Basic training, then split into groups for more extensive work.

Y-You did work in groups in your academy? At most we got paired but... It wasn't good.

Of three, with one teacher. It didn't always work very smoothly, but it's a good system.

Your academy had a lot of teachers, then... Or very few students. We couldn't do that at my school.

They weren't teachers employed by the school. Experienced ninja in the village often took on students.

Ah, I see...

[Ninjas. Sure, why not, she lives with a demon, met a boy who flies with a broom and a man who turns into smoke. Ninjas are actually pretty simple and normal in those standards.]

It sounds like a good system. A-At my world when we are older we get to do practice for work, s-sometimes with a senior to guide us. But only when we're older a-and not in every field.

Sounds like it works fairly well. Specialized training's good.

It is... Studying is important but anyone knows that there are things that books can't cover.

[But they cover most of it, and it depends on the job anyway.]

B-Besides there are people who don't... Study at all, and just learn from practice and imitation.

[Like monkeys.]

Books don't cover much of anything.

Th-They do. Just... Not the action parts, but the theory is needed to know where to start from.
