W-What... Why are so many clothes in my room?

[Look, Luceti, seems the Malnosso have brought another New Feather despite things being so hectic now. The journal won't be showing much in terms of image, just a shoot of a room, some familiar with it may recognize it as the SOS Brigade Headquarters from what's seen on the walls but that's all as the ( Read more... )

[The past couple of days have been really busy, haven't they? Monsters everywhere, the zones shifting constantly, nothing but chaos and anarchy. Strangely, there have been no reports of deaths, but plenty of injuries to go around.

Adell's been fighting for most of the time this has been going on, stopping only for healing, eating, and sleeping when he can barely stand anymore. So he's out fighting not too far from the Brigade HQ, dealing with a small wave of brigands wielding axes. As he dispatches the last of them, Luka's scream reaches his ears, and he quickly turns to its location.

What does he see but some poor girl in a New Feather dress fleeing from a big monster with teeth and intent to kill? Without an instant's hesitation, Adell charges for the monster to punch it away from the girl and divert its attention to him.]

[Is this a dream? A nightmare? But it hurts, her back aches even more with the running, her wings flapping hysterically don't help the pain to go away. But it has to be a dream, there's no way a monster like that would be there after all. And wasn't she in a club room at school? Why is it that she's now in a village? See, it's totally illogical and senseless, it has to be a dream.

Still, it's not impossible to die in a dream, a nightmare could produce a shock strong enough to produce a heart attack even to a young person. It's indeed possible to "die from fear". And even if it wasn't she doesn't want to dream about being eaten or killed. Unfortunately she's never been good at running, it's a miracle that Adell arrives at the moment he does, because the girl had just tripped and fell to the ground, leaving the behemoth a delicious snack. At least until Adell appears not that she has really noticed it yet, that tripping hurt.]

[Well, even if she hasn't noticed it, Adell proceeds to sock the Behemoth again when it growls and gnashes its teeth at him. It definitely seems unhappy that its free and easy meal was interrupted by this fellow.

So with a snarl, it attempts to lash out and bite Adell, an attack he sidesteps and punishes with another blow to the side of its face. He spares a brief look back to the girl as the creature reels.]

Hey! You okay?!

[But then he turns back to the monster as it recovers. It's surprisingly tough, but he knows it's nothing he can't handle.]

[She whimpers a bit as she raises herself. She fell, she was never good at running so she's not surprised, but... She's not being eaten?

Adell's voice gets her by surprise, she turns around, searching for him and for the reason why she wasn't a monster's dinner yet... Is that a person or a monster? He's fighting the monster almost on equal terms! It's... It's like one of those video-games, she has never played them but sometimes she saw them on the television or the mall. Is that what her dream is about? IS she dreaming with being inside a video-game and this guy is the hero that has come to save her?

She's just going to stay there, sitting on the ground, staring at the fight in shocked disbelief and screaming if it seems the behemoth is about to give Adell a hard time. She doesn't know where to go anyway, and she's in shock still.]

[The Behemoth then decides to try to throw its weight around. It does have a size advantage on Adell, after all. So irritated that its previous attacks have failed it tries to lunge and tackle him.

And being right in its face gives him virtually no time to move. So its tackle looks like it's about to succeed...

Until Adell jumps up and stomps on its head in mid-attack, which sends it into the dirt rather ungracefully.]

[It's a bad dream, it has to be a dream. Really, all of this... She's dreaming that she's in a video-game, why is she dreaming this to begin with? She has never paid much attention to them to begin with!

She's just going to scream and scramble backwards a bit as an unconscious reaction to try to put more distance between her and the fight.]

[And while the creature is on the ground and Adell basically on its head, he kneels down and continually cracks it over the head with both of his fists.]

Just! [A blow lands...] Stay! [Followed by another...] Down! [And then the third is the coup de grace, Adell throwing more of his strength behind it and knocking the creature limp... before it vanishes into a flash of light.]

[Just... Screaming. Even if it was a monster and all it was a scary sight... Actually forget that, she's just going to close her eyes and cover her face. When she opens them again she'll be back home, waking up from this nightmare, right? No more monsters, no more places that change randomly, no more heroes -though that part wasn't bad-, she really doesn't want any of that!]

[Adell looks over to the girl, sitting there, screaming and hiding her eyes. What a way to end up here...

He relaxes himself, there's not much time to waste, but he's gotta get her to calm down first. With that he'll draw closer to the girl, keeping his presence as non-threatening as possible. If she lets him get close enough, he'll kneel down beside her.

His voice is calm, and he tries to sound soothing. Well, as much as a guy who just beat a monster to death with his bare hands can be soothing, at least.]

Hey... don't worry. You're safe now. Are you hurt at all?

[She whimpers feeling him approach but doesn't move. She will wake up soon, she will be back home and safe. Just a bit more, just a bit more...

Why isn't she waking up yet?

Luka shakes her head, still covered with her hands, trying to wake up, trying to not look at that guy... He just beat a monster with his own hands, he probably looks scary too, covered in blood or something.]

M-My back hurts...

[And she's a bit scrapped from tripping before but nothing serious.]

[Well, considering it was only a simulation... he's actually not covered in blood. Still, he forces a smile for her as he looks her over.]

You'll be all right. Doesn't look like he got you. The back pains... well, they're really quite normal at first.

[She has no idea it was just a simulation, but his comment about the back pains makes her look up at him a bit. Big blue eyes staring at him in confusion, she vaguely notes that he's not covered in blood or scary looking. He really looks like one of those heroes from video-games and movies.]

N-Normal? Why do you say that?

[He watches her cautiously look at him, and can't help but notice how confused she is. Of course, they all are when they're new.

Adell fans out his white wings a bit, hopefully allowing her to see them.]

...These. Don't be afraid, though. You're not dead, you're not an angel now, but... we all have them here.

[The flapping gets her attention, she hadn't noticed them before, she was too busy running and during the fight he had moved too fast to be able to see them. She stares at them and then at him as he talks, for a moment it's as if she can't comprehend his words, but then it clicks and she turns her head to look at her back.]

W-Wha.... W-Why do I?!!! What... I don't like this dream!!

[What did you say about not being afraid? She's not heard that.]

[He figured this one was coming... but he keeps his eyes trained on her. His voice becomes more serious, firmer, but not scary or oppressive.]

I know this might be really scary to hear. But I need you to try to be strong and listen to me, okay?

[She just stares at him, tears in her eyes and still in shock and fear. This all is being a bit too much and she can't help to wonder why it sounds as if what he has to say is going to be even worse. Really, why can't she wake up yet? Why is she having this nightmare? She was a good girl!]
