[After last night, he'd actually woken up thinking that he'd had a nightmare

[ He was just looking for this one test he seems to have misplaced, and vaguely remembers somebody carrying it to the common room... ]

..... [ He is just going to stare at you for a long time... until: ] Naruto...? Is everything alright?

[He glanced up quietly when he heard his name, eyes void of their usual happiness. He might have managed to seem normal until they'd arrived at school, but there were too many people here and everything reminded him of Sasuke. He ducked his head soon after looking to see who it was, picking at a thread on his trousers.]

Yeah.

[ Well, that didn't look like his 'normal' face... ]

Hmm?

[He slumps, just a little more - turning his head to look away.]

... Did I miss class? Sorry.

[firewood_senju]

No. [ He ruffles his hair gently and sits down beside him, the test paper forgotten for the moment. ] What happened?

[The ruffle of hair is a surprise that has him straightening up, looking up at Hashirama again.]

Ah... It ain't important.

[ Yeah... Naruto's eyes don't look so bright and bubbly anymore. Didn't take a genius to figure out something was up. ]

[ He looks at him too, for just a moment, before smiling softly and looking away, leaning back. ] Is that so? Well, there is no rule that states you may talk to me only about important matters...

[He tries a smile, really he does - especially when Hashirama smiles at him first...

Only, it crumbles when he speaks - and his face contorts into a frown, head dropping.]

Yeah but-- It's... I...

Sasuke broke up with me.

[ The struggle doesn't go unnoticed by Hashirama and he watches him closely, his own expression falling to one of concern. ]

Did he now? [ Hashirama wrings his hands for a bit, thinking before he spoke to him next... ] Did he say why?

[He knows he's being watched. It's difficult to decide how to respond, but his leg is already twitching and finally he brings a hand up to his face, rubbing it awkwardly.]

Said I was dumb... That he wanted time to himself

[ Now that somewhat pisses him off. You can tell by the frown on his face and that look that a parent wears on their face when someone else talks trash about their kid. But then again, Naruto isn't looking at him, so it goes unnoticed~ ]

What a ridiculous reason. I hope you know you're not dumb, Naruto...?

[ A pause, and he sits there thinking again. ]

Was this a sudden decision...?

[Sorry Hashirama, it does go unnoticed, and that's a shame - it would be nice for him to see how much people care for him right now.]

I-- I guess.

It was on tumblr, but he ain't here t'day either... I dunno what to do.

He broke up with you... on a social networking site?! [ Could they get any more immature? So much for Sasuke calling Naruto dumb. That kid didn't even have the guts to tell him to his face. ]

[ Again, he ruffles Naruto's hair, except this time it's less playful. He brings that hand down to give Naruto's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, resting it there while he spoke... ]

I know that it's going to be really hard... But I'd say put it past you and go on with your life. He's prone to mood swings. Maybe he just was in a snappy mood when he said what he said. Let's just give him time, yes? He should come around, you know? If he's smart enough, he should figure out that he was wrong about letting you go...

[The harsh reminder of how he was broken up with makes him suck in a breath, looking up at Hashirama, only ducking again when his hair is ruffled.

The squeeze at his shoulders is some comfort though, and he toys with the idea of lifting his hand-- only to let it drop into his lap.]

Go on with my--

[The scowl fades away the more Hashirama talks, and he lets out a huff of air, rubbing his face again - particularly around his eyes.]

Sasuke's real smart though-- I just dunno what's goin' on with him...

[ He doesn't let go of his shoulder, just sort of engaged in a manly-hug sort of thing. ]

Book-smart, maybe. But here... [ And he pokes the left side of Naruto's chest just gently ] I'd give him an F+

But I dare say he'd improve on that grade with time... So, let's just give him time, okay?

...This isn't resolved until you two sit down and talk about things properly.

[The hug is nice, albeit a little awkward for him. Sustained physical contact isn't something he's had from too many people.

The poke to his chest makes his head dip, and he half-smiles at Hashirama, hand reaching out to grip his other wrist tightly.]

I reckon if I ask him to talk he ain't gonna want to. How long is time though? Like-- tomorrow? or next week?
