The New Year
So it has been an incredibly long time since i've posted but I've just been so busy and stressed and unwilling to post anything about my life because it is a huge mess.
Back in November I had an interview at George Washington for PA school, and I thought the interview process went great, but I have yet to hear back from them. Come Thanksgiving and the relationship between Jill and I gets a little strained. I fly out to MN to visit my mother for thanksgiving, which was a great weekend. While there she gets Married to Tim her long standing boyfriend for about 3years and there is a nice little cocktail party where we meet and greet with all her new friends out in MN. She also tells us that during a routine CT scan, they found a cancerous cells in her lung and liver. The position puts them in good angle for laser treatment, so she started a weekly regiment of a new trial drug. She's been battling cancer for 15 years, and as a family friend has said to me, "Your mother is probably one of the strongest women I know. She continues to work, and live her daily life and has yet to let this get the best of her. My brother has taken it hard, and I am beginning to notice a bit of me dying. This is going to sound very, gothic, but I'm losing feelings. Like things aren't getting through to me like they are suppose to. I couldn't cry when I found out this news, I brushed it off as if it were nothin.
I flew home from MN, and continued my life. Between flying home and the 17th, I met a girl from myspace that has started teaching me arabic. So for a while I was visiting her and have been hanging out with her, but then she left to go home to dubai for the holiday. One weekend I finished up apartment shopping in Detroit and found a nice loft a block from Tiger Stadium. I worked as a subsitute teacher for 13 weeks and tried to to get ready for my move. On December 18th I flew back out to Boston and stayed with my buddy Robert. The reason for my trip was to visit the Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, for PA school. I thought the interview went well and I got to spend 2 days drinking and chatting it up with my good pal robert. It was great to be back in the city again, its like it never changed, and Robert was still the alcohol, food snob I have always loved. We drank in Cambridge, and just completely enjoyed ourselves. It was definitely the break i needed to make myself feel good.
On the 22rd my father got married to his girlfriend of almost a year. She had been living at the house since October, so it has been interesting. the 23th, I drove to detroit to go to the Fox Theatre with Jill's parents. We went to see Irving Berlin's White Christmas then eat at the oldest italian restaurant in Detroit, Roma. She got me a pair of sunglasses and I bought her a few things since she made it very hard to shop for her. I stayed the night then drove home on the 24th to visit my grandmother who was admitted on the 23rd for a blood infection.. She was on her way out so I stopped by her place after Christmas mass and then went home for dinner. After Dinner, Paul (my brother) and I drove to a family friends for drinks and to open a few more presents.
Christmas this year was a bit lame, because I owe my father money, so he felt that I didn't need anything under the tree to open, I just didn't have to pay him back.. well thanks dad. Christmas day was spent at my uncles and i beat my cousin in every first person shooter game he had though I had never played any of them..
On the 26th we moved me into my new place in Detroit. Pictures of the place will be posted as soon as its not all still in boxes. The rest of the week nothing happened. I've been house sitting and i had a nice NYE.
NYE i had a small dinner party and several friends showed up, and we drank and hung out. I kissed jill at midnight and then we all stayed up until 4am.
So yes that is a complete update of the last two months. I promise to be better at this in the new year I SWEAR
