A great thing to do with overripe bananas is to make them into banana bread before they spoil.
A great thing not to do is to attempt making banana bread in the toaster, especially when you don't know how high the batter will rise in the pan.
Oh well. Lesson learned. Time to scrape the carbon off the burner and try again.
