Frankly, all this celebration over Osama bin Laden's death disturbs me. This might sound lame, but my philosophy on these kinds of things is heavily influenced by Trigun. To quote Rem, "No one has the right to take the life of another." How can we truly have world peace if it is built from the killing of others? What does this say about humanity, where we are elated about the death of another human being? Revenge should never be the solution. Hatred just breeds more hatred. No one will be able to convince me that killing bin Laden was the right thing to do.
So no, Mr. President, I do not believe justice has been done. I may have voted for you, but I was never under the impression that you were actually going to bring real change. You were simply the better candidate. I will likely vote for you again, but not because I agree with your political platform and accomplishments. Again, you will likely just be the better candidate.
Technically, the death of bin Laden does not change much. No, Al Qaeda is not gone. No, there will be no "pull out" of Afghanistan. No, gas prices will not go down. This is just a huge morale boost in the "War on Terror." It doesn't solve anything. Honestly, the revolutions that have been going on in the Middle East are bringing more change in the world than the killing of bin Laden.
