This poem was sooooooo made for me!
Me soul was born in Ireland I'm tellin' ya its true
It's more than just a feelin' it's somethin I just knew
Me mum she is Italian, Me dah a Polish man
But me my soul was born in good ole Ireland
I learned ta play the fiddle, I play the pipes so keen
And when I have a Guinness I get real fightin' mean
I'll take on any man, and fight most women too
But tell me that I'm Irish I'll buy a pint for you
Oh tell me that I'm Irish Oh please just say it's so
Oh tell me that I'm Irish I really have ta know
Perhaps I was adopted or switched around at birth
But I belong in Ireland if any place on earth
Me Mum she just denys it, me Dah thinks I'm insane
But me I know I'm Irish I feel it in me brain
When I look in the mirror I see an Irish face
So why won't they admit, Ireland's my place
My aunties and my uncles say it is a shame
They deny that I am Irish, Witkowski is my name
Me mum she did the birthin', me dah he was her man
But I don't listen to them, my soul's from Ireland
Oh tell me that I'm Irish Oh please just say it's so
Oh tell me that I'm Irish I really have ta know
Perhaps I was adopted or switched around at birth
But I belong in Ireland if any place on earth
I wear the Irish clothin, I'll dance to Irish tunes
Tattoos I am a wearin, inscribed with Celtic runes
No pasta or perogies, just fish and chips for me
The music I'll be playin comes straight from Glengarry
An Irish lass I'll marry, fine children she shall bear
We'll pack our bags, be leavin, and move to county Clare
I'll live my life in peace and die a happy man
My bones they will be buried in the sod of Ireland
Oh tell me that I'm Irish Oh please just say it's so
Oh tell me that I'm Irish I really have ta know
Perhaps I was adopted or switched around at birth
But I belong in Ireland if any place on earth
