All of this ceaseless banging! My poor Renate has begun to worry herself into quite a state, and I have begun to think I preferred my mirrors begging for blood.

[Private to Severus Snape]My friend, I wish not to trouble you needlessly, as I understand your familiarity with my current Inmate makes things a mite...awkward. However, I require ( Read more... )

I worry that I am in need, perhaps, of more than a simple interview can provide.

His origins, personality, relationships. I wish to understand this person my Inmate has for much of his life called his Lord.

I believe, then, that the simplest route would be to lend you some books which might prove enlightening, and answer any questions you might have once you've completed them.

Unfortunately, my own set is incomplete at the moment, and Mozenrath has the library's collection. I will need some time.

I suggest you refrain from mentioning them to either Lucius or Bellatrix Lestrange for now. It was quite jarring to learn about them - or the movies based upon them.

If they will grant to me information about him that you might believe Lucius would be unaware? Then they will be of use to me.

Two years' worth of information, point of fact.

I have no doubt that the information in the final two books would be cause enough for him to work towards rehabilitation.

Then again, I have qualms about dispensing knowledge of the future. It is why my own inmate has been told nothing save what he asks.

His file has already stated that his son has been drafted, and he has been informed. I hope that with time this is enough to penetrate, but if his devotion to Voldemort is such that he values the lives of his family as little as his master does, then the barge may be too late.

I would rather use whatever secrets Voldemort has kept from his followers, than delve too far into my Inmate's future.

I believe I will wait until you've completed the books to say anything further on the subject of Draco Malfoy.

Take care how you impart your knowledge to Lucius; much of what you will learn will be categorically rejected by him at first. No doubt you will understand why.
