Short and unpleasant. I suppose that when the Admiral gives us ports that turn out to be completely unsalvageable, that's the best he can offer us.

Not pointless -- you might have noted I did not use that word. If anything, my brief sojourn into the mad wilderness yielded some experiences that were most illuminating. Even on top of knowing what it ( Read more... )

I just thought you might actually want something done about it.

I just don't get some people.

That's a matter better discussed with persons involved.

Undoubtedly. I'm just hoping something's done about you being shot.

That would be a much more effective barb if something weren't done about the incident with you. The truth is there was. You are just unsatisfied with the course taken. So kindly try to find some means of ceasing to be the rat you are and stop sniffing about for frayed edges to nibble upon.

Nothing was done, you just exposed the surprising toleration for murder amongst even some wardens here.

There was an inquiry. Discussions among most every Warden here at the time. The final decision after the investigation was that nothing further need be done.

In most courts, that's known as an acquittal. Action was indeed taken. Again, it's just not the action you wanted them to take.

And acquittal when you blatantly shot a man in the face is not justice. It's just a sign that some wardens don't understand the meaning of murder and criminality.

Or they simply figured that everyone had been punished enough. You brought great harm to my nearest and dearest and I returned the same.

I injured him, yes, I tortured him, yes. But I was murdered and I expected something to be done about that. I don't think that's too much to ask, because if I did the same, I would be punished.

Quite the contrary, Monsieur. If you killed out of sheer emotional response to someone else being harmed, you might very well have been commended. Or rather, examined, since that would suggest a significant shift in character. Would you not agree?

So killing out of emotion is alright, but doing anything approaching harm for law and order is not?

I sincerely doubt it. Nobody should be commended for such a criminal act - the reasoning is irrelevant. Including you and yours.
