'With a cry, the great hero raised his sword one last time, and vanquished the evil creature plaguing the small town on the outskirts of the kingdom.
"At last," the hero began. "At last the town, and all the people in it are safe. I must return to the palace and report this to his majesty- I'm sure he will be pleased."
The valiant hero strode away from the site of the battle, but before he could climb a top his trusty stead, a voice called out to him.
"Wait!"
It was the voice of a voluptuous young woman, come out from hiding in a peasant's house nearby.
"Wait, please!"
Not being one to deny any woman's request, especially a woman of such beauty and virtue as this one could only be, the hero stayed where he stood as she made her way over.
"What is it, fair maiden? And who might you be? I didn't receive any news of a lord's daughter visiting this area of the kingdom, and with your grace and beauty you could hardly be any less a princess!"
The young woman blushed slightly, adding to the rosy color of her cheeks, and her cherry colored lips turned upward in a smile.
"I.. am no princess, sir knight. I am only Jenos, the daughter of a woodcutter who lives in the village. I wanted to thank you for killing the beast that had been plaguing our village. I... I was so relieved to hear of both your arrival, and your victory. I could not help but think... 'My father can now rest in peace'."
As she spoke this final line, the maiden's eyes cast themselves downward, and her shining eyes because clouded in the prelude to tears. The hero, at first swept up in her magnificent voice, and pondering if she could have possibly gotten even more beautiful in the short time it had taken her to come over to him, was suddenly finding he could no longer remain speechless. Not in the face of such sorrow as the young woman carried.
"My lady Jenos," he told her, resting a hand on her shoulder. "Do not weep. A face such as yours, with a heart to match is beauty, was surely meant to spend it's days smiling, especially in happy times such as these."
"You.. you are too kind to a mere peasant such as myself, lord knight." the maiden spoke, managing a smile though her heart still felt somewhat heavy. "I apologize, profusely, for burdening a noble person, such as yourself, with my.. my petty troubles."
Upon hearing these words, the hero was convinced that this woman was not only of wondrous body and heart, but of a pure and untainted soul. He found that he could no longer keep himself from drawing her nearer to him in an embrace. This was the type of maiden that he had dreamed of meeting his entire life.
"Petty troubles? No! Not for one such as you. But I fear as though, pure though you seem Fair Jenos, there must be more to you than meets the eye."
"Lord knight?" the young woman asked, pulling away from his warm arms briefly, although she truly wished she did not have to. "What do you mean?"
"Surely you must be part enchantment, or some creature of the fay, because you have bewitched my entire being. I no longer believe it possible for me to leave, and continue my life without you as my bride."
The maiden could hardly believe her ears! Whatever in her life had she done to deserve not only such kind words, but the loving gaze of the man who had spoken them?
"Lord knight.. if you could do with having a humble and simple woman to be your wife, then I.. I..."
"Speak no more!" the hero commanded, and brought his lips down to meet her's in a kiss.
The kiss was long, and passionate, but when it ended, the knight turned away from the girl as if shamed.
"My lord..? Forgive me. Have I.. done something wrong?"
It pained him to make her speak such words with that lyrical voice of hers, but it pained him more to keep his hands clenched firmly by his side. What he really wanted was to brush the long, midnight dark strands of hair out of her face, gaze into her deep iridescent eyes, and-
"No... No." he spoke in a determined tone of voice. "You and I.. Though I wish deeply to make you my bride, you and I must not travel together. I fear that.. if we did.. I would be cruel to you, and steal away your virtue before the proper time. Just from one kiss, already, it is hard to quell the fires in my loins.." '
