What are the chances of seeing anything but corn in Kansas?

Ah, the joys of the midwest. Corn, wheat, and occasionally other crops, how I love you.

Soon I shall be upon lovely wheat fields such as the one in the above picture, distracted by the millions of interesting things to do in Kansas. Excuse me, can's-ass.

Yeah! My family is driving to Kansas to visit my grandparents, driving back to Chicago, flying from Chicago to Denver, Colorado, for a wedding, and then flying back to Chicago. An efficient travel plan it is not.

I do want to go to Kansas, because I'll be seeing my grandparents, whom I haven't seen in over a year, and who aren't doing all that well at the moment. And Colorado should be alright, because I get to go white water rafting, and I have a pretty dress to wear for the wedding. Except, I don't know my cousins all that well, and I'm the youngest, which means I'm always a little bit ignored. Last time I was in CO, I was quite small, and everyone played without me, except for my cousin Victoria, who was kind enough to pay attention to me. She's actually the one getting married. I may have to thank her for that, haha. But seriously, I'm not entirely sure I remember all of my cousins names...my mom is one of 6 kids, and 4 of her 5 siblings have at least 3 children. I'm not sure who all will be there. One of my cousins and I get along all right. She taught me how to make crepes...

Of course, the wedding reception will be in a barn. Sigh. Yee-haw, cowboy?

Anyway.

It's July already, and still it feels like I'm waiting for summer to really start. We've had a terrible flea infestation, which means I've spent the past month washing a rewashing clothing, not to mention vaccuuming and doing flea-related research.

And I still haven't reconnected with everyone I meant to reconnect with this summer. I've barely talked to any of you lot at all, and it makes me sad. I would say that I'd talk to you when I'm back (on the 11th), but...well...let's be honest. My summer is packed.

I've got an internship with Michigan Citizen Action, a liberal group that's working to get under-represented groups to vote and have their rights and needs taken into consideration when legislation is passed. And on the week I get back, I've got stuff to do with them. And then, of course, from the 18th to the 31st of July, I shall be at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Early College Program, learning to oil paint.

That, I am very much excited for. But when that's over, I'll have only a month of summer left, and I may still have to take driver's ed (but let's be honest, probably not yet).

But seriously, I miss you all, and I'm sorry I've been so very absent from the world. I'm kind of a hermit in real life, too. Just so you know.

Has anyone read the AP interview with The Young Veins? What the fuck Ross and Walker? Anyone thought up an imaginative explanation that doesn't leave you angry at TYV? What about the Album? Do you liek it? I'm sure you've all posted about this already, haven't you? Sorry about that.

Okay, I have to go spray my room with shit to kill fleas. Wish me luck and fun on my trip? I have a scavenger hunt from my girlfriend, I'll maybe post the results from it when I'm, back.

Email me! Or comment! Or text me if you have my number! I don't think I have the ability to IM on my phone, but in case I do, if you're terribly bored, I'm i am sea foam green (without the spaces) on AIM, and I'd love to talk to youuu.

Okay, have an awesome week or month or summer, everyone. Lots of love etc.

colorado, kansas, real life, the young veins
