Like how I wanted to be on the craziest amusement ride I had ever seen, just because
I wanted to share an experience that we would never forget, I took her hand and reassured
her that everything was going to be alright, lying through my teeth and not really
knowing how anything would turn out. And wanting to hold her hand when the ride
started while she wasn't too keen on the idea. Eyes mostly shut, head shaking, No.
My heart raced with each heightened swing, my voice grew so low under her
screaming, and I was watching -- watching us gradually being lifted skywards
higher and higher, higher and higher until at last all of us were suspended upside
down from our seats and I could see the world as a bat, the blood going from my heart
to my head, and then the ride swung us back to earth again: slowly, slowly, slowly
until it stopped and we finally got down, and couldn't believe how it all had happened
walking away catching our breath, our bodies still in a layer of cold sweat and laughing.
